Everybody has some sort of constant in their life, some people are lucky and get more than one, but for Alecto it was always her brother. The two of them able to understand the other without much verbal communication at all. Most of the time, through their childhood and years spent at Hogwarts all Alecto had needed was to be around her brother to keep her mind from racing. There was an abundance of thoughts that could terrify her in her head, and somehow the connection theyâd always had mellowed it out.
Alecto knew perfectly well, most likely better than anyone else aside from her brother himself, how Amycus felt about standing by the shore of the lake; she was the only reason he was doing it. âThey have potential? I canât say Iâve noticed. Theyâre all useless.â Alecto scoffed, the brief moments she had had with the foreign guests hadnât brought much else but annoyance to mind. âIf you do, they shouldnât get hurt if theyâre talented enough, and if theyâre not then itâs hardly your fault their magical knowledge isnât up to the standard it should be.â
at least there was always alecto who shared some of his same thoughts, same feelings. they had their differences, some were big and some were small, but they still had many similarities that could bring amycus some peace. he would feel somewhat guilty about keeping one secret from her for years, but he didnât because the fear of her reaction was a little worse than whatever resemblance of guilt he would feel. alecto is the only constant in his life, he wouldnât do anything that would jeopardize it. yet, as she spoke, a small smile appeared on his lips and that secret thought he had was pushed to the back of his mind.Â
âi take it youâre not making too many friends,â he joked, it wasnât the best joke but it isnât like amycus makes jokes often. âa lot of them are useless, iâll believe that. i havenât met one student from beauxbatons that is actually worth remembering what accent-infused name they gave me. durmstrang, there are some in there that are interesting. at least theyâve been taught the dark arts and not this ridiculous excuse for a class we have here. they could teach something, at least, iâm trying to get one of the durmstrang girls to do so with me.â that small smile he held on his face fell as he resumed his usual slight frown. âi could only learn so much from the books weâve shared with other students. snape is constantly writing in them and itâs a mess.â
