one morning in a coffeeshop with my ex we were speaking about being in immigrant/refugee families, she shared with me a moment. it was of her father singing a song during a party. the song was no soy de aquí, ni soy de allá by facundo cabral. this has stuck with me, stuck in my heart, i think it always will. it is stuck in me, naming pieces of myself i have always felt but could never call on. i will always be grateful to this loved one for sharing this with me.

the emotions this song calls in me are the same that this character, wanda, processes for me as i think about her through the years.
