HE NEVER REALLY SAW other people in this section of the library. ben had been going up and down the history of derry section, something people found him strange for as everyone else already knew a vague amount of it. he was looking for more. he kept his eyes on the books for a moment before looking at the man. “ is this town’s history also freaking you out ? “ // @chariotsofthegodsman
BEN DIDN’T RELATE TO MANY OF THE LOSERS. it was hard for him to find things in common at times. but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to try and getting to know some of them. so in his mind, this was how he was going to get to know stan; the derry fair. all the others seemed busy on the first day of it, stuck with their families. it was just ben and stan today. “ wanna get cotton candy first ? “ he offered. // @rabbison
HE KNEW IT WASN’T ONLY BILL who had lost a sibling, but he had never talked to anyone but bill. after their encounter with IT, he had been avoiding meeting them. it was hard not to say that their loved on was eaten by a clown. he saw her a lot. the library was where you could always find ben, and here he would sometimes find her. he wanted to say hello, avoiding saying something generic like, “ sorry for your loss ”. doing something he never did. he went where the conversation took him. “ hi josie. i’m, uh, ben. from history class ? i sat behind you. “ // @lonegiirl
HE LIKED BILL. at times he wanted to be more like bill, but mabe that’s how all friends worked. he wasn’t sure as this was his first time really having friends, but he assumed that was how it was. as ben peddled to the denbrough household to ( for some odd reason ) hang out with just bill today, he was swarmed with thoughts. before he knew it he was at bill’s door. he knocked lightly. “ bill ? you home ? “ he called out. // @thrustsfists
BEN DIDN’T KNOW RICHIE THAT WELL, nor did he know very many of the losers as they were his new friends. however, what he did know was that richie had a sibling, and here he was, seeing her on her own for the first time. he had seen them together at school which was the only reason he knew they were related. ben, being a rather quiet and reserved kid, never felt like talking to strangers. yet since meeting the losers his confidence had gone the slightest way up. he took his chances, he took a deep breath, letting his feet move toward her. he was going to say hi, he was going to say hi, he was going to say... “ hi. i’m ben. i’m, ah, friends with your brother. “ he felt like sinking back to his house. he felt like a dork the way his voice cracked. // @oldertozier

IT WAS SOMETHING SHE had seen on a commercial once in mike’s home. or maybe a magazine. either way , it had caught her attention enough that she remembered it now - if you were lost , you were suppose to stay in one spot until someone found you. of course , she wasn’t sure how much that applied to her situation. she was lost , yes , but no one knew she was lost. eleven sat on the steps anyway , trying to decide between moving and staying , when a kid walked out of the building she was in front of. she stared until he walked past , and then he started to talk to her. eleven looked up with her stare , silent for a moment before shaking he head. “ lost. “
FOR SOME ODD REASON ben felt like her stare could give her the ability to read minds. they were like stone, her eyes, and they could see right through you. he immediately started feeling embarrassed for his previous thoughts of how pretty mrs. douglas looked today behind the library counter, how he had thought about talking to her for hours. he tried to shake away the heat from his cheeks, the thoughts that were coming back, attempting to focus on the girl before him. her voice was calm, but she only said a word. he wondered how many words she was capable of. “ you ? you’re lost ? um, i don’t... know what to do about that... “ he replied honestly, scratching the back of his neck and looking around them. still no one. with his glance around he caught sight of the clocktower, showing that it was just about 5. he had to be home in an hour. “ do you know where you’re from ? you’re from derry, right ? “

BEN HANSCOM. a pudgy little thing – not for long, in the grand scheme of things. but so very SWEET and with such success ahead –
nevermind all the dread, as well. positive thinking and all that.
death returns the boy’s wave goodnaturedly, before taking the distance between them in a stride. the figure takes up a spot on the bench next to the boy, maintaining a good factory air between their forms. mindful. children should ALWAYS be cautious of strangers.
the woman points back at the decorated front window of the confectionary store, striking up simple conversation.
“ good stuff in there ? “
OH, he does look JUST like his father.
SHE RETURNED HIS WAVE. THIS SURPRISED HIM. what surprised him even more was her steps toward him. for some odd reason ben began to panic, the kind of panic of looking like a fool just as your crush walked by in the hallway. he looked down as his hands, tempted to fix his hair but finding that to make it too obvious how he was feeling. staring down at his shoes, hoping that she hadn’t seen him see her coming toward him, he body shakes lightly when her voice comes through the air. “ ah, yeah, “ he replied quietly, beginning to lift his eyes to meet hers. “ ii like coming here when no one’s around. “

Richie adjusted his glasses to look down at the book, “So basically I can become the master of games without having to grind for hours at the arcade? Dude that’s fucking amazing thank you!” Richie wasn’t one for books usually but this dealt with video games so he’d for sure give it a shot.
“ uh, i think that’s basically what it is, “ ben began to crack a smile, happy that richie was agreeing with him for once, not making fun of him for something he thought was cool. “ if you’re not keen on reading, i can do the reading. maybe i’d learn a thing or two. “
geeze !!! my starter call blew tf up. i’ll be posting replies and some starters tonight and tomorrow. sorry for the inactivity !!
IT WAS UNLIKE BEN TO just go to the arcade, but richie had made fun of ben all too much on spending most of his time in his room, at the library, or at the shop with his mom. today was supposedly ben’s “eye-awakening training day” as they had both proclaimed. he was just assuming this was going to be a day of richie kicking his ass at video games, but that could be fun on it’s own. he stepped into the building, everything so new to him. he had never actually been in here before. in a second he caught sight of his bespectacled friend. “ uh, hey, richie ! which game are we playing exactly ? there are so many. “ // @fuckiingclown
“ hey, i found a game guide ? it’s these new things that tell you all about a game or arcade game. i think you’ll like it, “ ben smiled at richie. they didn’t have too much in common, but when he found the guide at the library he knew the first person he had to talk to as soon as he checked it out. // @trxshmcuth
WAS IT STRANGE that ben liked people who looked like they would hold a job scanning in books and re-shelfing them ? he liked people like teachers, librarians, and waitresses. they were always so nice to him, always made his heart beat a skip faster. temporary love, he called it. he stared at the woman just outside the candy shop as he sat on the bench, tucking away his candy buttons he had just purchased. he couldn’t tell, but it seemed like she was staring back at him. giving it a chance, he gave a small wave, just to see. // @suavismortem
BEN WAS NEW. BEN DIDN’T KNOW ANYBODY. this was a thought that he always kept in mind when he saw an unfamiliar face. most faces were unfamiliar other than his new friends. this girl had piercing eyes, eyes that stayed with you long after you had left them. as he came down the steps of the library, four books in hand, he caught her eye. she was either confused or just strange. ben looked around him to see no one other than himself around. then again, who would reach out a helping hand in a place like derry ? he began to walk toward her ( as it was already the path he took to go home ). just as he passed her, he stopped in his tracks, turning around. curiosity was killing him. “ hey, are you okay ? are you waiting for a bus or something ? ‘cause there aren’t any buses around here. “ // @theirproject
Derry’s not like any town I’ve ever been in before. People die or disappear six times the national average, and that’s just grown-ups. Kids are worse. Way, way worse.
