This happened… Well, it happened almost never in their lives. Birthdays came and went — but in lives such as theirs, there wasn’t much time to focus on something so trivial as celebrating each other’s existence in this world. Even if, ironically, it seemed to still be the most important thing. Though, Sam along with Dean had brushed it to understanding that, as long as they’re both alive and by eachother’s side, everything was /fine/. Now, their fine was quite an understatement.
Last couple of weeks they’ve been busy with cases left and right — as if the creatures had just gathered on them, but that was good, since it kept Dean and his mind busy, while Sam formed a plan. 24th January, his birthday. Since they barely ever celebrated birthdays, and they were already grown ass men, Sam figured it would be more of a pleasant surprise, even if Dean wasn’t the one to even notice at first. He’d try to act it off, because it’s just a day, because they rarely did this. But Sam wanted t give his brother some time off, and well. Apparently, baking ended up being interesting.
This last case he asked Dean to work alone, vamp nest in Colorado, enough time to keep him side-tracked, while he faked feeling unwell just for the sake of Dean leaving — just so he could get to work. And he literally decided to follow a cookbook recipe. Make him a homemade cherry pie. Which, he did — and it wasn’t that hard, but not too easy either. There was also few Jimi Hendrix’ vinyl albums stashed in a package. Just to wait for Dean, now.
“In the kitchen!” He yelled, soon as he could hear the door opening.
