“Far more than a silent icon upon a golden throne, Cleopatra spoke to them directly in their native tongue, the first monarch to do so since the last native pharaoh Nectanebo II, three centuries before. Clearly this was no Macedonian, speaking only Greek to the Mediterranean world, but a true pharaoh who spoke directly to them as Egyptians in their land of the Nile. Her cause was their cause, and, by actively participating as goddess-monarch in rites which had for so long sustained their country, she secured their loyalty.”

The part of themselves they want to show the world: The one who takes a beating and keeps on going and still remains true to herself. She may not be who her mother wanted her to be - anywhere close, in fact - but she is, wholeheartedly, herself, and she is determined that the world won’t break her of this. This means: continuing to fight. This means: keeping her humanity in an increasingly inhumane world. This means: holding on to the good things with both hands and refusing to let go.
The part of themselves that they want to hide from the world: The part that she’s tried to bury, still littered with the seeds of self doubt planted years ago. Some small part of her (that may or may not sound like her mother) tells her that it’s not enough - not good enough, not strong enough, not smart enough, etc. She never wants to appear inadequate or stupid or ridiculous in any way, and will often try to play things off for laughs if she feels it might head that way. Better to make fun of herself than be made fun of, right? Ultimately, she’s her own worst critic, having surpassed her mother years ago.
Their views on blood politics/purism: Not a fan, even before the war started. Growing up with blood purist parents tends to do that to you. She rejected that pretty early on in life and fully intends to raise Neville that way.
Their views on magical supremacy overall: She doesn’t really believe that magic is the end all be all, but at the same time, she doesn’t think she could live without it. She’s not the type of person to look down on muggles or think of them any differently - she just wouldn’t trade her magic for anything.
Their views on technomancy: She absolutely loves innovation and technology, and has probably been fascinated with some of the inventions that have popped up over the years. However, her own experience with Protego has soured this for her a bit. She was once an up and coming hotshot inventor in their ranks, but eventually grew disillusioned with Protego and its practices. She left a few months ago, intending to set up shop as a hacker/programmer for hire (though this has been slow going due to recent events). She believes technology (and technomancy) should be freely available for all, and wants to work to make that happen.

Name: Amelia Catherine Bones
Age: 31
Occupation: Redacted (undecided as of yet, whoops)
House/School: Gryffindor, class of 1971 (Gryffindor Quidditch beater, ‘66-71; captain, ‘71)
Wand: 11.5″, chestnut, unicorn hair
Best Area of Magic: Dueling, charms, hexes, and (rather surprisingly) herbology
The part of themselves they want to show the world: Ultimately, Amelia wants to be seen as bulletproof - words can't hurt her, weapons can't hurt her, nothing can hurt her. She wants to be brilliant; she wants to shine too brightly for the world to look directly at her. She has built her career off of being strong, and it’s what she’s good at - at times, the only thing she thinks she might be good at.
The part of themselves that they want to hide from the world: Anything soft. Amelia claims she doesn’t do soft, in any form - she is battle-hardened, full of jagged edges and splinters. She doesn’t know how to handle herself delicately, let alone allow anyone else to, so she has shored up those defenses. In her more melodramatic moments, she might claim that she’d rather die than be seen as weak or helpless.
Their views on blood politics/purism: It’s bullshit. Some of the few people she likes are muggleborns, and she’s met plenty of purebloods the world would be better off without. She has a strong distaste for power imbalances of all kinds, and is likely to tell you that everyone is equally shitty.
Their views on magical supremacy overall: It’s bullshit. She doesn’t really think magic has done all that much for humanity, at least any more than muggles have. It’s a tool like anything else - there are pros and cons to it, and it probably shouldn’t be in the hands of people too stupid to use it.
Their views on technomancy: It’s bullshit. There are certain applications that she could see being useful - particularly when it comes to those who are disabled or sick - but the lack of oversight and the potential ethical issues are significant issues in her mind. She also has severe misgivings about the industry and “money-ness” of it all, and is wary of what people may be doing with it.
Character parallels: Rosa Diaz from Brooklyn 99, Katsa from Graceling, Max Rockatansky from Mad Max, Arya Stark from Game of Thrones, Elphaba from Wicked
