Night
Rest. Rest your head my dear. Rest and dream a little dream for me But your dreams are always restless, And forgotten. Lay your head on my pillow, Rest. Sometimes I can't get a word in edgewise, you even talk in your sleep. Hurried words and mumbles What secrets will I find if I listen to you chatter, What cares could you have....as you lie so serenely.... Rest, Maybe I should get some.... I never liked the way....veiny pale hands clutch coffee mugs. Cigarettes in bright morning light, Tired sore feet shoved into boots, Hurried walks to the bus.... remembering what you've forgotten. Yet here I am, Wide awake at 3am, Watching you, While you rest.
