wendy ♡
don’t you mind — nth ft. ssw
@hgdwendy
in scenario a, he is stupid enough to go with a nameless stranger to somewhere really far away from his house. those kind of sunday mornings are the ones that scare him the most, he locks in the ( still nameless ) stranger’s bathroom with a huge headache and various blackouts from last night’s main events. is just as long as a blink of an eye, less than a second, how much it takes to realize that yeah, he’s still alive. ( most of the times, however, what he feels is really far away from relief ). in scenario a, taehyun leaves quietly at 6am and takes him an hour to find the way back to his apartment.
in scenario b, he wakes in his own bed with a huge headache and blackouts but at least he is for sure save and won’t have to spend fifteen minutes trying to gather his clothes and his keys while trying to remember the fuck he did yesterday. what he feels isn’t relief, but something more like comfort.
in both scenarios, taehyun needs his special cup of cofee.
this sunday morning, is scenario b. he puts on his clothes and takes the biggest pair of shades he owns to hide the eye bags that reveal accurately what he was doing yesterday. he trips with a pair of shoes too ugly to be his on his way to the door and curses at the guy that is sleeping on his couch. he wonders vaguely what to do with the stranger, but ultimately decides that is too early to deal with that kind of crap. he leaves.
the coffee shop is close to his apartment, so it doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to arrive. is a cute place, more on the small size, but taehyun really enjoys the atmosphere. is around 8am on a sunday so when he enters the shop he only finds wendy.
now, he doesn’t exactly knows wendy. but since he overheard one of her co-workers calling her, he has always referred to her as wendy on his mind but never actually called her that. he isn’t sure to do it because their interactions are often so impersonal that it would feel like crossing a line.
( is funny, though, because he is so good at crossing lines that he wonders why he is honoring this one. )
“hi,” he says shortly to her. “black, no sugar."
taehyun has a terrible taste on coffee and he often drinks it with too much sugar to the point you can barely even feel the coffee. he wonders if wendy has noticed that he only drinks black coffee when he is having a harsh morning. he snorts at the thought because, why she would?
a yawn escapes wendy’s lips as she turns the sign at the door of the cafe, such that ‘OPEN’ faces the streets outside. she stares blankly at the stream of people walking past the cafe, letting her mind wander about since she was still feeling sleepy. wendy was in charge of opening the cafe this morning and her co-workers wouldn’t be there until the afternoon shift starts.
she is brought back to reality when she notices a man in sunglasses walking towards the cafe, his stride slightly unstable as he walked. quickly, wendy brisk walks to the back of the counter and stations herself there, swiftly grabbing her apron and tying it neatly around her waist.
the chime of the bell signalled the entrance of the customer, and wendy turns to greet him with a warm smile. she recognises him immediately as the customer who comes to the cafe at odd hours, and the customer that smells of alcohol from time to time. she’s not sure why, but his slightly mysterious aura made her heart flutter in a way that was so unfamiliar, and knowing that he was coming to the cafe made her happier than usual.
he makes his way towards her and just as she was about to utter a greeting, he speaks first. “hi,” he says shortly, “black, no sugar.” wendy notices how his hair is slightly out of place today, and the faint smell of alcohol lingers before her for a moment just after he speaks and she knows that he was up drinking all night. she nods, tapping his order onto the glass panel and reaching out with both hands for the payment. once received, she places the dollar bills into the cash register and makes her way towards the coffee machine while he takes a seat at his preferred place.
along with his coffee, she prepares a glass of warm water. she fills the glass halfway with room temperature water followed by hot water from the flask but accidentally scalds herself when the flask slips from her fingers. “damn it,” she mutters softly, turning on the tap and placing her hand under the cold running water, wincing slightly since it stung. knowing that she couldn’t keep him waiting any longer, she dries the hand with a paper towel ( ignoring how red her skin was ) and takes both the cup of coffee and glass of water to his table.
“here you go. i’d recommend starting with water first, i heard it helps with the headache,” she states shyly, unable to look at him. “a-and, maybe if y-you’re feeling better w-we could..” she trails off, feeling embarrassed by the thought of it. “never mind,” she dismisses it quickly, shaking her head.
“enjoy your drinks.”

yongguk:
Computers. He could fix a lot of things - cars, wobbly table legs, toasters with a grudge against unburnt toast - but computers and phones weren’t quite in his comfort zone. Yet. But how could he say anything but yes to that face? And she just looked so helpless. He might not have been an expert on computer repair but he did learn a thing or two from one of his more tech-y friends. Shouldn’t that be enough for him to help out? And who was he to turn down a challenge, anyway?
With an attentive nod he gazed at her laptop “I gotcha covered, miss. Just, uh,” his eyes flitted from the object in her hands to the one in his, “Let me finish up and I’ll see what I can do. You can come on back if you want.” He was a bit doubtful as he eyed her. With her attire, her overall outward appearance, she would definitely look out of place. Like a rabbit in the jungle.
“What made you come here?” he asked out of curiosity as he led her back to the car he was working on.
He stood quiet for a moment, as if hesitant to offer his help to Wendy. Feeling her heart sink when she saw his reaction, she was about to apologise when he nodded and shifted his gaze to her laptop. “I gotcha covered, miss. Just, uh,” his eyes flitted from Wendy’s laptop to the object in his hand, “let me finish up and I’ll see what I can do. You can come on back if you want.” A wide grin spread itself across Wendy’s face, and she felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude take over her entire body.
Following behind him like a lost child, Wendy looked around the auto shop in awe, completely amazed and fascinated by the littlest things found there. She probably seemed like an extremely weird person then, but she had never been to an auto shop before. “What made you come here?” he asked, a tone of curiosity masking his words. “Seolhyun recommended your shop to me. She told me that you two are friends, so I decided to give it a try.”
Wendy would always get a little too excited when talking about Seolhyun, and as if it were automatic, Wendy continued babbling on about their friendship. “You see, Seolhyun and I have been the best of friends since we were four. And we just moved to Hongdae to attend university together. Oh, and we’re living together too!” she chirped happily with a sheepish grin on her face. She had wanted to elaborate further, but thought it would be unnecessary to bore a stranger she had just met.
“I’m Wendy, by the way,” she added quickly, realising how silly she was for not introducing herself. “and I’m very thankful for your help.”
A Friendly Encounter.
( @hgdmuni )
wendy got changed into her usual attire - a white button up shirt and a pair of black skinny jeans - and combed her hair back into a neat pony tail, taking one final look at herself in the mirror before heading downstairs to the kitchen. she brewed herself her essential cup of morning coffee and sipped on it happily; it never failed to calm her down in the morning. taking a look at her watch, she decided that it was time to head for work. she grabbed her keys off the counter, slipped on her shoes, and she was off for work.
it was wendy’s turn to open the cafe today, which meant that she had to be earlier than usual. wendy didn’t mind, however, as the morning breeze never failed to make her feel refreshed and ready for a day at work. she looked towards the sky, a light shade of blue decorated with clouds of all shapes and sizes, and a smile unknowingly formed on her face. every little thing made her happy, even just a clear and wonderful morning.
"the event’s cancelled?”
a voice caught wendy’s attention, and she turned her head to see a lady standing along the pavement, talking on her phone. the lady had short, red hair, and didn’t seem very much older as compared to wendy.
“but i woke up early just to attend the event at the orphanage today and now you’re saying it’s cancelled?” the lady let out a sigh, unable to hide her disappointment. shaking her head slightly, she mumbled a soft ‘goodbye’ before hanging up. wendy jutted her lower lip out into a small pout, knowing how disappointed the lady must’ve felt.
wanting to cheer her up, wendy walked up to the lady without hesitating and gave her shoulder a light tap, a friendly grin on her face.
“excuse me, i couldn’t help but overhear your conversation and i was wondering if you’d like to visit the cafe i work at? it’s my job to open it today, and i could brew you a cup of coffee since your event’s cancelled.”
surprise surprise,
( @hgdwendy )
the fourth time she asks for her package, daehyun pities her.
it’s a strange experience: she’s small, rounded eyes, attractive face–everything points to her being lucky. after all, the way karma works, the way he thinks it does, beauty attracts more beauty, draws in the good, soaks up the sunshine. but he can’t shake the feeling of sadness that pours into the lines of her face when, for the fourth time, he has to inform her that what she’s ordered hasn’t arrived.
and he’s sure there’s some warranty that can take care of her, some sort of policy that guarantees its arrival after some time. he’s sure that waiting won’t kill her, but the furrowed eyebrows and softened voice might damage him before then.
so he searches and scours stores, asks questions, locates the item in a small establishment across the city; on that morning, he drives out, purchases it, buys a packaged box and fakes a label addressed to his neighbor. then, with a smile, he’s off, back at their building. there he shuffles letters and makes sure to knock on her door last, one hand outstretched, presenting the small package; the other holding a few letters between his fingers.
with a grin he waits, feels the warm rush of being kind–a glimmer that makes his eyes shine, that widens his smile.
for the fourth time, he shakes his head and a look of pity forms on his face. wendy couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows and look down at the ground with a sigh escaping her lips, utterly disappointed that her package hasn’t arrived. wendy had forgotten to pack a particular teddy bear when she moved to hongdae, and had gotten one of her maids to mail it over to her new address. it wasn’t just any teddy bear, however, for it had belonged to her late dog, angel, and it was very special to wendy.
shaking her head and putting on the best smile she could muster, she uttered a small ‘thank you’ before bowing slightly at the man and closing the door. maybe it’ll come tomorrow.
wendy lay on the couch as she scrolled through her phone, amused with the messages sent from her friends. the familiar ring of the door bell caught wendy’s attention and she got right up, casually throwing her phone onto the couch as she walked towards the door. she was sure it was the mail man again, and during the short walk to the door, wendy constantly reminded herself not to get her hopes up; she didn’t want to feel disappointed again.
“good morning!” she greeted in her usual optimistic tone as she opened the door.
when she saw the package he was holding with his outstretched hand, wendy couldn’t believe her eyes. he looked happier than usual that day, a wide grin on his face, as if urging wendy to take the package from his hand. “is this... for me?” she asked in a soft tone, taking the package from him and looking down at it, as if it were a foreign object. unable to hide her excitement, she removed the packaging carefully and held the teddy bear in front of her, a gigantic smile forming on her face. her expression was one of relief and definitely joy as she hugged the teddy bear close to her chest, her eyes fluttering close.
“thank you so much.”
「 like night and day. 」
seolhyun:
a familiar voice pulls her out of her train of thought, and she looks up to face her best friend, who looked nothing like the warm-hearted girl she had grew up with right now. at the moment, seolhyun imagined wendy as a demon, with horns growing out of her head and smoke emitting from her ears, trying to convince her into selling her soul.
shaking her head, seolhyun juts her lower lip out in an awfully unsuccessful attempt to pout and, with all the cuteness she could muster (which really isn’t a lot), whined.
“please, just let me sit here and think about life and cry.”
seolhyun had hoped that it was worth a try, but in all honesty, that act would not help in any way. she knew her best friend would just laugh at her, shrug off her complaints and make her continue until they were actually done. that’s just wendy for you — always positive, sometimes exceedingly so. she never sees the bad in anything. if she has something to do, she just keeps on working on it until it’s over and done with, and even then, you wouldn’t hear a single sound of grievance from her. the only setback of this? she never stops trying to get you to work along with her.
seolhyun pauses to look at wendy for a moment, a look of somewhat disgust and disbelief written on her face. wendy knew that seolhyun was having an internal conversation with herself, probably groaning over how wendy was always so determined to get everything done without a single complaint. seolhyun jutted out her lip to form a pout, which was very rare for her to do so unless she was desperate enough, and whined.
“please, just let me sit here and think about life and cry.”
once again, wendy couldn’t help but laugh at her best friend. oh, why did seolhyun have to be so lazy? sometimes, wendy just couldn’t understand her. if they had something to do, why not just get it over and done with? despite her best friend being ‘gifted’ with the laziest genes, wendy would never give up. she bent down and wrapped her fingers around seolhyun’s wrist, tightening her hold carefully so that she wouldn’t hurt her.
“get up, seol! it’s just a little more and we’re done for the day!”
wendy tugged gently on seolhyun’s wrist, trying to heave seolhyun off the ground. seolhyun wasn’t heavy, in fact, she was extremely light for her height, but wendy just wasn’t strong enough. wendy blew on her bangs, letting go of seolhyun’s wrist. she placed her hands on the sides of her waist, looking down at her best friend.
“seol, if you’re not gonna move your ass, i’m gonna have to roll you around the house.”
a grin formed on wendy’s lips as a thought came to her head.
“and the floor hasn’t been swept yet.”
[ hw&wd ] . final countdown
the end of the semester was nigh and as usual he was not prepared for the rush of final projects and ultimately final tests. every day he trudged to class, exhausted from all nighters for his film class editing his final edition to perfection, with only thoughts of never ending homework and the brisk cold he’d come to hate so much. but he never complained. it was something that had to be done and there was nothing he could do about it so he dealt with it just as he was doing now.
math was by far the subject he hated most but with a declared minor in business he had no choice but to take math classes much to his expected dismay. however he had an angel. a mathematics major angel by the name of wendy. everyday in class she helped him with the confusing numbers and useless formulas and even extended herself today to assist him studying in the library. an angel indeed. he’d even bought her coffee as thanks for coming out so early. sipping his own mint chocolate chip frappe, he carried the order of a pumpkin spice latte for her in hopes she liked it with him into the university library. it didn’t take him long to spot her. they met often in the same spot.
“i come bearing gifts.” he announced his arrival in hushed tones, a smile finally upon his lips at the sight of help. he set the latte before her and took his seat beside her, his bookbag placed on the floor beside him. unzipping it, he took his textbooks out from their pockets and grabbed his practice notebook with a few pens. he was a very anal person and it showed in his strict organization. shifting to a new page, he dated it at the top, the woes of a lefty surely to leave him with pen marks on his palm following this session. a smile was cast her way. “thank you for coming to help me. i can’t get this stuff like you do.”
the semester was coming to an end and in came the projects and tests, like waves crashing onto the shore. wendy never uttered a single complaint though, for studying was something she enjoyed doing. in fact, being a math major, she loved the math assignments she was receiving and completed each one with a sense of satisfaction. hyukwoo, on the other hand, hated math. this was shown through every sigh and grumble he would utter whenever a new math assignment was given out, or when he saw a long string of numbers. he just didn’t like math.
everyday, wendy would be the one helping hyukwoo through the many pages of his math assignments, patiently explaining each and every question, and muttering a soft ‘you can do it!’ under her breath. today, wendy offered to help hyukwoo with studying in the library and to hyukwoo’s delight, he agreed.
when her last class was over, wendy made her way to the library, her legs bringing her automatically to the table where the both of them always sat at. wendy liked to term it as ‘our table’ whenever she told him to meet her at the library. she sat there with her books sprawled on the table, not hesitating before picking up a pen to scribble down notes and finish up uncompleted questions while waiting for him.
“i come bearing gifts.” he announced in a hushed tone, placing a cup of coffee before her. with a smile on her lips, wendy put down her pen before picking up the cup and sipping on the latte that it held. she let out a soft sigh of contentment, signalling that she liked it and muttered a quick ‘thank you’ to hyukwoo as he took out his books and a few pens.
“thank you for coming to help me. i can’t get this stuff like you do.” he said with a smile on his face. wendy’s lips curled into a smile as she raised her elbow to nudge his arm playfully, letting a soft laugh escape from her lips. “no problem, that’s what friends are for!”
[cup of memories] bailey w. wendy
[ @hgdwendy ] Bailey smiled, waving as the last trainee ran down the road, seeking escape from the unnerving day down the rehearsal studio and return home to the comfort of their warm home. The dancer sighed, running a hand through his already disheveled hair. He felt odd but not tired, watching the bustling streets of Hongdae blankly, searching for whatever pleasure he could have for the rest of the day. Rubbing his eyes, Bailey caught himself in mid-yawn, stretching his muscle-pained body mindlessly before flicking the lights off the studio, grabbing his belongings before heading down the street.
The night air was brisk and the lad was welcomed by the cool touch of air, shivering as he was only in his sleeveless white shirt. Quickly ducking into the nearby establishment and walking through the door of a corner cafe he’d never stopped to before to cloak himself from the freezing temperature, he was welcomed by a female who looked all too familiar to him, someone who’s back he could recognize without a second look. No, that can’t possibly be her. he thought as he continued to walk past her, greeting the other available staff instead. Bailey just can’t bear to talk to someone who resembles her.
As he looked through the menu, Seunghyun can’t help but feel like he was being watched, dismissing it as he played it off as a fan who knows who he is. Questioning his urges even as he settled at the far corner of the room, the male did his best to focus on the list of servings and was approached by a presence whom he assumed was the lady he smiled at, attending to him patiently. “Caramel macchiato, please.. make it foamy and more milk.” Bailey uttered amicably, still not bothering to tear his gaze away from the menu as he battled it out with himself as what cake to get to go with his caffeine.
A sigh escaped Wendy’s lips as she placed the pile of cups she was holding into the sink. “If the cafe gets any busier, I might die from a lack of oxygen,” Wendy grumbled, washing her hands quickly before drying them against her apron. “Come on, Wen, that’s the whole fun of it!” one of her co-workers chirped, giving Wendy an encouraging pat on the shoulder. Wendy smiled and nodded her head, “I guess you’re right. It’s a pretty boring place when customers aren’t around.” Turning to the coffee machine, Wendy grabbed a cup and started brewing a new cup of coffee for one of the customers.
The chime of the cafe’s bell signalled the entrance of a new customer. As if it was already programmed into her, a small greeting escaped from Wendy’s lips as she was busying herself with the coffee.
“Welcome!”
Once she was done, Wendy smiled proudly at the cup of coffee in hand, carefully bringing it to the customer who had ordered it. “Enjoy your coffee!” she chirped as she bent down to place the cup of coffee on the table. Straightening her back, Wendy caught sight of a man sitting at the far corner of the cafe, eyebrows furrowed as he looked through the menu. Bailey?
Wendy froze on the spot, not believing the sight in front of her. It’s been years since the last time she saw Bailey, and they haven’t been in contact since then. She stood there staring at the man, her surroundings fading into a mass of darkness for all she could focus on now was him. Her hands reached for the notepad and pen in the pocket of her apron, and she walked towards him feeling slightly nervous yet excited at the same time.
“Caramel macchiato, please.. make it foamy and more milk.”
A smile formed on Wendy’s lips as she immediately recognised him as the boy she loved playing with when she was a young girl, even though he’d annoy the hell out of her sometimes. “Knowing your taste, I’d recommend the New York Cheesecake to go with your coffee,” she said, unable to hide the hint of happiness in her voice.
A Note & A Coffee Cup.
kisum:
Once she was settled, she quickly opened her laptop and reviewed the new dj mix she made the day before. She plugged in her earphones and played the audio, her head slightly going up and down to the beat. Her concentration was interrupted when the barista handed her the coffee. “Oh, oh! Thank you!” She unplugged the earphone from her right ear immediately replied with a smile, not even noticing the small piece of paper stuck with her drink. As she took a quick sip from her drink, a smile escaped her lips. She took another, this time, a long drink that quenches her thirst. My favorite coffee, just how I like it. She plugged her earphone again, her right hand on the touchpad while her left holds the coffee, After a few drinks, she felt a different texture from her coffee cup. She looked at it and found a note for her.
“Oh, oh! Thank you!” The customer unplugged the earphone from her right ear and replied with a smile. Wendy nodded her head slightly before turning away and heading back to the counter. She couldn’t help but let out a soft and dejected sigh as she walked. She didn’t even notice my small note.
Bored, Wendy leaned back against the counter and watched the customer with her arms crossed. She’s so focused. Wendy watched as the customer fixed her gaze on her laptop and furiously typed on the keyboard from time to time. Wendy was slightly fascinated, considering the fact that she couldn’t type as fast as other people, and she was a complete idiot when it came to technology.
Suddenly realising what she was doing, Wendy shook her head and rubbed her face with both of her hands. Wendy, stop being creepy.
Fortunately, the chime of the bell signalled the entrance of a new customer, and Wendy attended to him immediately, getting her mind off Kisum for a moment.
Junjou.
@hgdseungyoon
The wind blew past Wendy’s face, causing her to shiver as she stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket. She looked up at the sky that was turning grey and a frown unknowingly formed itself on her face. Great, I left my umbrella at home. She was on the way to the library to get a few books but it looked like the weather wasn’t going to let her. Before she knew it, the rain poured down and Wendy swiftly lifted her hoodie over her head, running towards the nearest shelter she could find - a dog cafe.
The pleasant ring of a bell echoed throughout the cafe as she entered, and the aroma of coffee brought a sense of comfort for Wendy. Quickly analysing the cafe, she caught sight of a few puppies playing at the corner of the cafe.
Without any hesitation, Wendy walked over to the corner, not bothering about the fact that her jacket was already soaked from the rain.
“Hey there," she greeted in a soft tone, bending down to stroke one of the puppies. It was a Chihuahua, and Wendy always had an obsession with cute dogs. The Chihuahua wagged its tail happily as Wendy combed its fur with her fingers and her lips curved up into a smile. How adorable!
“I see you like my dog.”
A voice came from behind her, and she turned around immediately, slightly surprised.
“Oh, h-hello.”

He almost groaned at the last message, even feeling the glare she was probably giving him through the phone but nonetheless he only had a half hour to get ready. No big deal he thought since he had already taken a shower and practically had his outfit on… minus the pants. Walking up to his bedroom he shifted through his closet and grabbed his last pair of clean black pants. Kyungsoo had made a habit of dressing with some color when him and wendy had their regular outings together since looking like some over grown emo kid was not the plan. His shirt was a dark red long sleeve with a blue flower pattern along it that matched his shoes. It was an easy outfit with a quick come though his hair and his glasses perched on his nose.
[ ✉ ‣ wendy ] i am ready to be sacrificed to the outside world.
[ ✉ ‣ wendy ] also we should go to that cat cafe after :D
After a quick shower and a change of clothes, Wendy tied her hair up into a messy ponytail as she hurriedly threw her phone, wallet, and whatever she thought was necessary into her bag. As she headed out the door, she stopped to take a final look at herself in the mirror.
She wore a plain white tee with a pair of denim shorts, something simple and classy at the same time. Her hair wasn't looking its best, but considering how she promised Kyungsoo that she'd be there in thirty minutes, it was decent enough. Wendy slipped on her favorite pair of Vans - the white ones that were decorated with red roses - and left for Kyungsoo's house.
It was only a ten minute drive to Kyungsoo's house, so Wendy flagged down a cab along the street and prayed internally that the driver wouldn't be one of those that drove extra safe. When she was settled into the vehicle, she took out her phone to view the two messages Kyungsoo had sent. She rolled her eyes at the first one, but quickly replaced her expression with a happy one, seeing how Kyungsoo wanted to go to one of Wendy's favorite cafes.
[ ✉ ‣ kyungsoo ] come on, the sun won't burn you to death! but yeah, we should definitely visit the cafe once we're done at the nursery.
Not long after, the cab pulled up in front of Kyungsoo's apartment and Wendy paid the fare before saying a quick ‘thank you’ to the driver. She made her way to the lift lobby of the Gallery, where Kyungsoo resided and pressed the button that had an arrow pointing up. A loud buzz caught her attention and she lifted her head to see the words ‘OUT OF ORDER’ at the top of the lift. With a sigh, she rushed up the stairs and found her way to Kyungsoo’s unit. Panting slightly, she lifted a finger to press the door bell next to the door.

“You should check your oil regularly, it’ll save ya a lot of trouble down the road.”
Yongguk was in lecture mode as he shifted to peer out from under a car, his face taking on a stern expression as he met eyes with his customer. The owner of said vehicle shifted slightly, rambling off excuses as Yongguk disappeared back under their car to check on the old oil draining into a pan. Sometimes he swore people abused their cars on purpose. Sure it probably gave him more business but why should the vehicles have to suffer more than they needed to? With a quiet sigh he picked up the replacement filter, internally cursing himself as he realized he’d grabbed the wrong type.
Sliding from under the car he flashed a wry smile at the customer as he made his way to retrieve the correct filter. It was on his way back past the door to the reception area that he caught part of an exchange that had him backtracking and peeking his head in.
“You know this is an auto shop and not computer repair right?”
His service clerk probably meant to be helpful but truthfully her words came off as a bit condescending. With a warm smile he made his way over to the front desk. “It’s okay, I got it.” he nodded to his employee before turning to the young lady. “What can I do for ya?”
Wendy hugged her laptop close to her chest, making her way towards the auto shop down the street. Her laptop refused to be turned on, and Wendy just didn’t know what to do. Moving to Hongdae and being new around the area, she only knew of the auto shop down the street, and a particular guy who could fix many things. Wendy entered the shop and placed her laptop on the counter of the reception area, nervously fumbling with the end of her shirt as she opened her mouth the speak, “Do you think anyone here could help to repair my laptop?”
The clerk at the reception looked at Wendy, amused.
“You know this is an auto shop and not a computer repair right?”
Hearing those words, Wendy felt blood rush to her cheeks and she knew that she was blushing out of embarrassment. She nodded quickly and mumbled a quick ‘sorry’ before lifting her hands to grab her laptop.
“It’s okay, I got it.” A deep voice caught Wendy’s attention. She turned her head to notice a man with a warm smile on his face, and a few dark stains on his clothes. He nodded to his employee before turning to Wendy. “What can I do for ya?”
Feeling slightly shy when meeting new people, Wendy stared down at the laptop in her hands and sighed dejectedly.
“It won’t turn on. I’ve tried charging it already, but it just won’t work.”
She looked up at the man in front of her, biting down on her lip nervously.
“Do you think you can help to fix it?”
wait a minute ft. wendy
Very little could ever annoy Min Yoongi. He took things in stride, shoved anything with the potential to anger him away in an instant, and joked about everything because it made dealing with anything easier. The one thing that could easily get to him, though, was a lack of either a cup of coffee or a pack of cigarettes (a healthy combination, for sure) as he prepared to delve into hours of late night video editing.
And tonight, he lacked both.
Nothing would ever get done without either necessity, and so with no hesitation he threw on a plain black hoodie, grabbed his keys, wallet, and found himself inhaling the crisp night air in under five minutes. Cold hands tugged down on the beanie covering the mess of blonde atop his head as he walked, his every exhale manifesting as puffs of white in the air before him, and he never craved a hot cup of americano more than he did in that moment. And so as he approached the café he so often made his late night runs at, only to find a familiar barista locking up the front door, his lips immediately fell into a frown – a small pout, really. But he straightened himself up, pulled his hand out of his ripped jeans’ pocket and mustered the friendliest vocal tone he could, approaching the barista with a gentle hand on her shoulder,
“Hey! Hey, hey wait, I’m sorry – Wendy, right?”
“I know you’re closing, but would you…” he paused to hold up and press his pointer finger onto his cheek, lips curved into a gummy smile that reached his half mooned eyes, “would you mind maybe taking just one more simple order? Please?”
After a long day at work, Wendy was relieved when it was finally time to close the cafe. She untied the apron wrapped around her waist and hung it up at the usual place - next to the kitchen door. Being the only one closing the cafe that night, Wendy had the tedious job of overturning all the chairs onto the tables and ensuring that all the cups were back in their place.
Once she was done, she stretched her arms above her head and let out a contented sigh. “Finally,” she mumbled under her breath. Getting her bag and swiftly taking the keys from the counter, she took one final look around the cafe before turning off the lights and walking out of the cafe.
She fumbled clumsily with the large number of keys, grumbling under her breath as she tried to find the right one. Just as she was about to lock the door, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
Surprised, she turned around to see a familiar face. She didn’t know his name, but she’s sure she had seen him around the cafe before.
“Hey! Hey, hey wait, I'm sorry - Wendy, right?”
“I know you’re closing, but would you…” he paused to hold up and press his finger onto his cheek, lips curved into a gummy smile that reached his half mooned eyes, “would you mind maybe taking just one more simple order? Please?”
As she stared at him, she couldn’t help but smile at how adorable he appeared to be.
“Yes, I’m Wendy. And about that order…”
She paused to think, tapping her chin gently as she stared at the ground. Wendy wasn’t sure if she was allowed to open the cafe after operating hours, and it definitely wasn’t safe to be alone with a stranger this late at night. But he does need his coffee, doesn’t he? Being the soft-hearted girl she was, Wendy glanced at him one more time before finally nodding her head.
“Sure.”
She turned around and pushed open the door to the cafe, turning on the lights to welcome him in.
out of the hole ➸
The late afternoon brought in a breeze that calmed the tension in his back from hours of being hunched over his manuscript in its last stages of editing before being faxed back to Japan. It was a regular thing to do at least once a week since he had all the free time to stress over the best perspective to draw the bloody love confession of his latest chapter release. But even so Kyungsoo was starting to feel coped up in his room on his bed. A small leg stretch and down the stair he went and the feeling of being in a cage was gone as he entered the living room. It wasn’t much of a big leap but if there is anyway for him to stay inside he will do it. Well that is until he remembers of making a promise to go out today. With a small whimper and small steps in his pink boxers Kyungsoo head to his phone and types a text in hopes that maybe he can stay inside.
[ ✉ ‣ wendy ] wake up!
[ ✉ ‣ wendy ] you better not be sleeping still o_e
A soft groan escape Wendy’s lips as the familiar notification tone from her phone rang. With closed eyes, Wendy stretched out an arm and searched around for her phone, before her fingers finally came into contact with the familiar piece of metal. Bringing the phone to her face, her eyelids were barely opened as she read the two messages on her phone.
[ ✉ ‣ wendy ] wake up!
[ ✉ ‣ wendy ] you better not be sleeping still o_e
Realising the time, Wendy let out a loud gasp as she pressed down on the keyboard furiously, grumbling slightly under her breath at how small the keys were.
[ ✉ ‣ kyungsoo ] i am sooo sorry!
[ ✉ ‣ kyungsoo ] my alarm didn’t go off! on second thought, maybe i hit the snooze button. I’LL BE THERE IN THIRTY MINUTES, I PROMISE!
[ ✉ ‣ kyungsoo ] and this isn’t a reason for you to cancel our day out!
Throwing her phone back onto the bed, she pulled herself up and headed towards the bathroom to get ready for the day ahead with Kyungsoo.
A Note & A Coffee Cup.
kisum:
As she opened the door, she smelled the aroma of coffee almost immediately, a fragrance that gives her comfort and peace. The usual part-timer barista warmly welcomed her with a sweet greeting. Kisum bowed and replied with the same. She made her way to the counter, not even bothering to look at the menu. Kisum knows that this attendant is familiar with her order, unlike the other one who is all over the place.
“I’ll have the usual please.” Kisum said softly before rummaging in her bagpack for her wall.
Quickly heading to the back of the counter, Wendy straightened her back and beamed the usual smile she gave to every customer, although, this time, it was a shined a little more than usual.
“I”ll have the usual please.”
Pressing her fingers against the cold, hard glass of the panel, Wendy keyed in the customer’s order and took the cash from her with two hands. “Thank you, just take a seat, your drink will be ready soon!”
Naturally, Wendy took a cup from the counter and slid it under the coffee machine, getting right to work.
Once the coffee was done, Wendy placed the lid over the cup and hesitated for a moment before deciding to grab a small piece of paper from the counter. Taking off the cap from a pen, Wendy scribbled a few words on the piece of paper in the best handwriting she could muster.
Hello, my name’s Wendy! I hope you enjoy your coffee, and I hope you had a great day.
She stuck the paper to the cup and walked out from behind the counter, heading towards the customer who sat with her laptop in hand, completely immersed in what she was doing. Clearing her throat softly, Wendy settled the cup down on the table.
“Here you go! Dark Mocha Frappuccino.”
A Note & A Coffee Cup.
wendy heaved a sigh of relief, thankful that the cafe’s busiest hour was over. she lifted up her sleeve to check her watch - 7PM. it was another three more hours before wendy could close the cafe, but she didn’t mind since there weren’t that many customers around. she stationed herself behind the coffee machine and leaned against the counter with her arms crossed. i wonder where she is.
there was a particular girl who caught wendy’s attention whenever she came to the cafe. she would arrive at the cafe exactly at 7 and order her usual favourite - dark mocha frappuccino. wendy had recommended the cafe’s signature drinks to her on various occasions, but the girl would refuse politely and insist on her frappuccino. then, she would head of to a table and stay there for about an hour, occupied with either her laptop or a book. during their short interactions, wendy would find the girl very friendly and approachable. however, due to her shy nature, wendy never had the guts to approach her and ask for her name.
"have a nice evening!” wendy chirped as a couple got up to leave the cafe. as if it was an automatic reaction, wendy made her way to their table to pick up the two paper cups and dispose them in the bin. the pleasant chime of a bell caused wendy to turn around to see who had entered the cafe. as she did so, wendy couldn’t help but let her lips curl into a smile.
“good evening!”
