— Yogi Bear
Stephanie shut her eyes, digging the heels of her palms into her mat some more as she pushed to stretch out her spine. She didn’t care how distracting he was gonna be today, she was gonna get at least a fraction of the workout yoga was supposed to give her.
At the sudden cry out in pain, Stephanie’s head – alongside the heads of the rest of the people in the room – immediately snapped up and turned towards the source of the sound, eyes wide in surprise. “Oh sh–” She stopped herself before she lowered herself down onto her knees, scrambling over to where Yongguk was lying on his mat.
“Crap, Guk, you okay?!” Stephanie asked him, the other women in the room sharing looks of concern amongst a sea of hushed murmurs as the instructor came over, kneeling down beside them.
“Oh my goodness, are you okay? I’m so, so sorry, sir! I should’ve been more observant and watched the people at the back too,” she said, voice full of panic and worry as she looked down at Yongguk, then up at Stephanie with wide eyes. “You’re not hurt too, are you, miss? I’m really sorry that your boyfriend was hurt because I wasn’t paying attention. No one else is hurt, right?” The instructor was met with another set of soft murmurs.
Stephanie reeled back slightly at the instructor’s words, eyebrows raised in surprise. “Wait, wh– Yongguk? No, wait. He’s not my boyfriend.” She watched as the instructor’s cheeks flushed slightly in embarrassment, and she bit down on her lip as she looked back down at Yongguk, trying so hard not to burst out laughing at the entire situation. “You okay?” she asked again. “What’s hurting? Your leg? Arm? Hips? Talk to me, gramps!”
Incredible. What kind of world was this? He’d practically grown up pushing cars and hauling around tires and various other hard labor. So how, he wondered, was he defeated by bending over and waving his ass in the air? Nobody else in the class was having this much trouble, but then again they’d been doing this for much longer than he had. This is what he gets for being a try hard, apparently.
Wincing and moving a hand to clutch his injured shoulder, he glanced around at the ruckus he’d caused. “‘M fine, ‘m fine, I just… Ugh, think I pulled something. Completely my fault, please don’t worry so much, miss.” His strained smile to the instructor was apologetic even though he’d been the one hurt. The smile he had for Stephanie, however, was a different matter entirely. He’d almost laughed at her protest to him being her boyfriend, would have if the pain shooting through his shoulder didn’t remind him of why they were all standing around anyway.
“Jagiya~ Don’t deny me like this in front of all these people.” He’d meant to reach out for her but there was that shooting pain again that made him think better of it, instead he settled for making kissy faces at her and being highly amused at her expression. Of course he’d play around during such a serious moment. “Shoulder. ‘S my shoulder. Felt something pop, they might have to amputate.” He flashed a gummy grin at his own silly statement, his eyes closing and the grin fading as the urgency of the situation finally dawned on him. “Much as I hate to say it, I probably need to go to the hospital.” he murmured in English to Stephanie in hopes of saving himself more embarrassment, “Don’t you dare call an ambulance, I’m taking a cab. Had enough people gawking at me for one day.”
