So, enjoyed a slightly wet summer weekend, Abby Caves, Te Whara Track and Puhoi river kayak, thank you #newzealand #longweekend #abbycaves (at Ocean Beach, New Zealand)
A little homey touch from ten thousand kilometres away. (at Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Provinc, China)
When the rain did not affect one’s travelling mood, you know you are at some place awesome :) #vietnam #halong #badweather #goodmood
Last chance in this old year to use 'international' social media, all in all, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Love from China :) (at Hong Kong International Airport)
5.5 hours, 20km, mission accomplished and items on to do list in New Zealand checked. #tongarirocrossing #bucketlist #youcandoit (at Red Crater, Halfway Across The Tongariro Alpine Crossing!)
When you get bored on the plane
A wonderful place out there.
Last day in Samoa, first pic in Instagram (at Namu'a Island)
Being Majority/Minority
People sometimes get offended when I say being Asian makes me fell like a minority. In their defence we have the world's number one population, and we are everywhere around the world. For those who has never been in New Zealand, Auckland in particular, there are a lot of us, statistically speaking Asians occupies 23.1% of the whole city's population (2013 census data, damn I value the power of reference). I only say I feel in the minority group under certain circumstances, I'm not crazy and hate to be hated. It's world renowned that when you are at a different country you like to hang out with your own people. So when I go out with friends that are from other places (surprise surprise, I have those friends), I am the outcast. The language, the inside jokes, the 80s references, the music and all the other parts, please tell me I'm not alone here. So the way I see it, it's not the larger number that gives one a majority feeling, it's the connection. I never felt like an outlier when there is a common topic, a good game, when we were all dancing, singing and the existence of drinks really helps.
So here we go
I figured, after almost 7 whole years in New Zealand (13th of July 2008), I should have something to share by now. So, the initiatives being: 1), At least one person (thanks for your support C.W, and here is the Internet anonymity you might have wished for) finds my comments towards things very amusing (I use the words “very” and “amusing” loosely); 2), I am drinking some wine by myself and thinking, how socially unacceptable would I be if I am in China at the moment.
Anyways, the whole purpose is to get me started writing things, funny or not, sensible or not, with hashtag or not, grammatically right or not (blame auto correction if I make mistake)…
Apologies if you have noticed, I use brackets a lot, any finally, happy almost anniversary.
