A Bit of Normalcy → Sam and Finn
Sam winced a bit when Finn mentioned Quinn’s ex. The blonde boy sometimes had a tenancy to be absent minded so it didn’t really occur to him how weird it could have been for Quinn and Tyler to see each other under those circumstances. Luckily everything seemed to go well as far as Sam could tell minus when Quinn was guarding Finn and he got a bony elbow to the eye.
He nodded at his friend’s words as he mentioned the could of darkness leaving Mystic Falls once everybody left. He could only imagine even the clueless ones must have unconsciously felt safer with them gone. ”I can only imagine,” he muttered flicking some of his blonde hair out of his face. Sam chuckled a bit at the online comment. ”Tell me about it, dude. I’ve read some things on that sight that were definitely not meant for my eyes,” Sam mentioned with a lopsided grin. Sometimes he wished his peers would use some digression when talking online. One slip up and it could cause a world of hurt for everybody.
Sam looked up to catch Finn’s eyes as he wondered if he could ask him something so his friend knew he was somebody who could be trusted. ”Of course dude,” he nodded. At Finn’s words he felt his stomach drop. If he wasn’t convinced before that Finn was one of his kind he definitely was now. His words reminded him of exactly how he felt when the curse was triggered and he was still confused. This conversation even reminded him of his talk with Quinn when he finally was able to admit out loud the monster inside him. ”You have no idea,” he said honestly. Sam knew whatever he said next he would have to choose his words carefully. He didn’t want to scare Finn off, but he couldn’t exactly just come out with it either. Admitting it for the first time, saying it out loud is a huge step. A step Sam believed everybody needed to take at their own pace since it is one of the first steps towards accepting.
“Finn whatever’s goin’ on right now. I can promise you that you’re not alone,” he said clapping his hand on the taller man’s shoulder. ”Look if you need to talk about anything I’m always around, dude.”
Feeling Sam's hand on his shoulder is what brought Finn back to reality. He was about to take back his words and dismiss it as being nothing, but one look at Sam's face he knew he couldn't do that. There was something in his eyes that told him he could trust him and his words only gave him that reassurance. That no matter what happened Sam would be by his side. It was weird really because for the first time in a long time Finn felt like he could really talk about it. About what he had done, and what he had become.
Taking a small shaky breath, Finn looked away from his friend to the pavement underneath. "I think you know what I'm going to say." Finn began, his eyebrows knit together and he tried to gather the courage he needed to continue. "I'm a werewolf." He muttered so quietly. "It was about a year ago around the time everyone left after graduation. I don't remember how it happened, or who it was ... It was all so blurry." He was retelling the story of how he triggered his werewolf gene, and just as the words left his lips, it was as if he was reliving that moment once again. "I was blinded by this rage that I didn't even know I had in me. It like took control of me and I wasn't myself, it was like I was somebody else." Finn swallowed hard, blinking back the tears he could feel stinging his eyes. "I killed him."
