A new beginning for adult content on Tumblr

TLDR: I’m creating a service that allows you to move your Tumblr content for free.

Tumblr is where we found community

Tumblr taught us sexuality is not something to be shamed, but celebrated. Kinks are better shared than hidden. We’ve expressed ourselves by posting, reblogging, and creating content. We’ve written stories, started conversations, and made new friends.

On December 17th, Tumblr will hide all adult content. Countless hours of creation and curation, gone. But it doesn’t have to end. We’re creating Tapblr, a new microblog for the fun (adult) parts of Tumblr.

Why create Tapblr?

There’s always been a cat-and-mouse dynamic with adult content and Tumblr. Blogs have been shut down and deactivated without explanation. Tumblr always turned a blind eye to porn, and now it’s clear they never really wanted us.

We’re creating Tapblr to make it easy to backup your Tumblr content – a product of years of curation and effort – and rebuild community after Tumblr removes adult content. There is a very good chance our tumblr will be deleted. As you may already know, tumblr (has been) is about to crack down on freedom of expression and filter all sexually explicit content. At the very least, our content will be filtered and then what’s the fucking point? Needless to say, we are not happy about this.
