The castle and the Archduke Elwin Rosfield When Clive goes to see his father we get to see inside the castle for the first time. The elegantly carved stone and woodwork indicate the high status of this building compared to the rough hewn stone buildings outside the castle walls. The throne room has no windows but is filled with light from a domed skylight set into a vaulted ceiling. Rosarian banners and carved phoenix crest adorn the walls in case you forget whose domain you are in. Twin staircases lead to the upper gallery and the balcony that overlooks the gardens. Rosalith castle gardens

Away from the hustle and bustle outside the castle walls there is nothing but peace and tranquility in the castle gardens. Planted with colourful flowers and manicured shrubs this garden is a haven. The gardeners have no need for shears and secateurs when the bearers can use wind magic to do the pruning. All images copyright Square Enix Co Ltd.

Outside the castle walls the people of Rosalith work hard preparing food. A cook rolls out pastry on table is filled with tasty treats, a platter of cured sausage, cheese and honey, fresh baked bread and a hearty meat pie. They are well stocked with beans, peas and green apples. and various barrels and sacks contain more food supplies. A bearer uses his magic to draw water at the well, "to save on crystals" says his master. Young Clive continues on towards the palace gardens to meet his father. Exploring Rosalith with young Clive Rosfield. As we start this epic journey we get to explore Rosalith, the capital of Rosaria. The town is a hive of activity as the people prepare to go to war. Soldiers are making ready caravans, drawn by armoured chocobos wearing Rosarian colours. Blacksmiths are forging and sharpening new swords. There is plenty of food, bread, meat and pies, and the biggest apples I've ever seen! Crystals are packed into boxes and soldiers spar in the training pit.
