I wanted the first post on this blog to be dedicated to one of my favorite musicals via this little stick figure illustration I drew earlier this year. This show, which I got to see three times, helped me through a particularly grueling application season and illustrated beautifully the struggles high-achieving women face when they seek something outside the bounds of societal expectations. The Mad Ones helped me face those fears, rooted in both the past and the future, and move forward. In the words of Samantha Brown, "The key is in the ignition and no one gave you permission. It's only you in the car, and only you know how uncertain you are." @kaitandbrian, thank you for pouring your hearts and souls into this work of art! It was life-giving.
