Frank Ocean follows the theme of his middle of the night releases with his newest visual for “Nikes.” This makes for back to back videos in a 24 hour period. Many thought the “Endless” release was a changed name for his “previously” titled album “Boy’s Don’t Cry,” but as Frank alludes to the post he made on his website page last year in the first 10 seconds of this video; he got TWO versions!
As much heat as Ocean has been receiving the past year for a perceived sloppy roll out, this is starting to look like a masterful marketing tactic for arguably one the most important artists of our time. There are so many messages hidden in the fabric of this visual, woven together beautifully with the balance of confidence and vulnerability. It looks like this is just the beginning of a string of surprises that young Lonny has for us. Excited for him to put the sole back in music, and as always, enjoy.
