Forgotten Dream…

A small-town girl with lots of aspirations stepped into the city. Her dream was nothing but to become a bold and a beautiful butterfly, exploring everything in this world.

She wanted to grow her wings and fly beyond the horizon. however she secretly craved for more love and care.

May be this little desire had arrested her evolution and made her react sensitively to all situations. 

Her wish to learn and live more vanished and apparently, she forgot her happiness.

She slowly drifted to a safe path which seemed to please others eyes.

Although she felt trapped, she never realized that she had a wonderful dream.

Silently, she regretted every step she took.

Then many years later… she remembered all her lost dreams, on seeing how her baby daughter is evolving into a toddler.

Beating my beets phobia

Almost a week ago, I ordered beetroots through an online groceries delivery service. I am really not a fan for this red root, but recently I came across a dip recipe with beets which compelled me to add beets in my my shopping list. Precisely, I ordered beets just 4 in numbers because I know if the dip turns out bad, I would have wasted my time, money and effort on this. This sobering thought actually prevented me from attempting this dish, although I had a strong hunch that I will like beets as a dip for my rotis and can finally add it in my diet regularly. 

Every time I planned to take beets out from the fridge, my mind carefully rejected it. I would rather skipped cooking for the day and ordered take out food. In order to break this vicious phobia, I made a list of all my negative feelings towards the vegetable and finally I was amazed to see why I really hated this vegetable so much. (and yes, red poop on the next day, topped the list). After this activity, I was feeling much better and somehow managed to take the beets bag out of the refrigerator. I peeled and diced them so carefully that the red stain didn’t spoil my kitchen counter. I rinsed it almost 4 or 5 times in cold water and cooked it in a pressure cooker along with sliced onions and salt & spices. 

Once I vented the pressure from the cooker, the smell was not very appetizing, I transferred it into a bowl so that I can blend it to a paste. I gazed at the bowl for couple of minutes and aborted my plan. I couldn’t proceed further with the dip prep because my fear and hesitance to try new things wanes only gradually . However I will reorder beets again and will try to over come my phobia deliberately next time. I cannot be hard on myself, can I?
