Half of the year Persephone spends in the land of the dead, being a good wife to Hades. Summers she spends with us, known as Kore — always fourteen, give or take a million years. Summers are spent at skateparks, malls, gas stations. She reposts, eats straight from the pan, and can't legally buy booze. Her therapist is working overtime. She owns no winter clothes. Rave runes are a species of unauthored graffiti found near venues of sustained electronic music. Colonies emerge spontaneously, in vertical columns, faintly luminescent after dark. Contact produces a mild burn 3–4 hours later, from unrelated causes (coffee, oven, cigarette). Distribution follows bass frequency rather than foot traffic. Colonies dim during daylight and police attendance. Classification is contested: the runes predate the alphabet they resemble. Do not read them aloud. This is not a safety instruction; they simply prefer it.

Void of Plenty, the whisper-punks, live: "Shackleton," performed 03:40AM at a private bedroom venue (address withheld, attendee asleep). Audience of one, unticketed. Set length: four minutes. No police report filed; the break-in went unnoticed. Favorable reviews arrived as dreams.

A wake for an overpainted tag. Attendance is customary within 48 hours of coverage; mourners bring candles and unshaken cans. No eulogy is spoken — the deceased is not dead, merely unreachable. Ears are not placed against the wall. It's considered kindness.
