Pressing against the bars of oppression

Part of moving into a house with all wood flooring was realizing how quickly it feels terrible underfoot. We quickly got some carpets and plush mats to help address some of the missing comfort of carpeting. We don’t miss the allergen build up on carpets though so this was worth it.

We got a squishy kitchen mat for when we stand at the sink, but most of the carpets we got a thin and machine washable. Not very cozy.

To my beloveds extreme annoyance both cats absolutely adored the kitchen mat even though traditionally we do not allow kitties in the kitchen. Every time we’d turn around one of them would be loafed on the squishy mat. They have beds other places and to tempt them I brought them close to the kitchen. See, a soft cozy place to be that isn’t in the no cat zone? But no dice. All squish was spurned but the mat. All hail the forbidden mat.

Eventually I caved. I went to Costco, bought a second one just for the cats, and put it in the hall before the kitchen.

It worked, they accepted the offering and vacated their kitchen conquers and now they have a cozy mat all to themselves.

Leeloo loves to lay in my arms and look up at me with love. It’s her favorite activity. In this case she was looking up at my beloved who was trying to capture the cuteness.
