that feeling when you pull up to the studio for a fun night of classes, even if you wanted to stay home for a little while longer
that feeling when you put your shoes on for the first class, pretending you’re a professional getting ready
that feeling when you use all the energy in your body for a run through, knowing you’re going to be gasping for air by the end of it
that feeling when you finally get a new skill, especially after failing so many times
that feeling when you do your first pirouette and you know its going to be a good turning day
that feeling when you see the tiny girls watching you from the windows, remembering how cool the older girls looked when you were their age
that feeling when you walk out of the studio into the cool fall air after dancing your heart out for hours
that feeling when you’re excited to come back the next day, even though your body aches and you just want to sleep
that feeling when you know that you’ve accomplished something, even if the choreography was new and hard
that feeling when you get to skip school to go to a competition or a performance, realizing that this is your life
that feeling when the crowd’s energy bleeds onto the stage and everyone is hyped up to perform
that feeling when you end in your last pose, knowing you just killed that number
that feeling when your body constantly aches, but you know its because you’ve given your life to dance and you couldn’t be happier
…this is what a dancer truly feels
