Season 8 Episode 23
Since the episode was separated in 2 (Sheldon and Leonard’s flat and Howard and Bernie’s house, I’ll give my opinion in relation to this)
Starting with Sheldon and Leonard’s flat.
1.1- I really loved the infamous topic of Religion vs. Science, I just didnt really like the way it was brought up. I was expecting it to be more of a ‘’getting along’’ kind of approach instead of a ‘’friction’’ kind of approach, basically confirming that science triumphs religion. Just for the record though, I’m not taking any sides. Suppose that i were to enjoy this confrontation between Beverly and Marry, I hoped that the argument would’ve be more informative and more structured instead of insults and derogatory terms. At least it ended in good terms
1.2- This Religion vs. Science concept was also a great way, in my opinion, to show 2 very different and opposite method of parenting. Beverly= based on psychology theories and in a structured and consistent manner VS. Marry= religious, traditional and loving manner. However, both children (Sheldon and Leonard) have turned out the same on an academic and intellectual level. However, we can see that Marry’s approach was ‘’better’’ because Sheldon did not need constant approval. This shows, however, that a person’s personality and insecurities are not predetermined by theories since Leonard would of wanted Marry’s parenting whereas Sheldon would of wanted Beverly’s parenting. Yet, if we were to believe that personalities were predetermined, Sheldon would of been more like Leonard and therefore Leonard would of been more like Sheldon. This is getting confusing?
1.2- Let’s talk about Sheldon for a second. As much as Leonard always looks for his mom’s approval, I feel like as if Sheldon needed both his mom and Beverly’s approval or recognition of ‘’his’’ work (the quotation marks will be explained later). However, it seems as if he needed it because he’s been the smartest and most brightest his entire life, yet Leonard is the one who came up with the theory and not him. Therefore, he also wanted the spotlight, hence the quotation marks of ‘’his’’ work.
Now onto Howard and Bernie’s house
2.1 I’m guessing that Howard is okay about Stuart living with them. Thus confirming that Howard was a) jealous of Stuart and Ms. Wolowitz’s relationship b) insecure or scared of being replaced by Stuart c) not wanting Stuart to be dating Ms. Wolowitz.
2.2 I find it kind of odd and slightly hypocritical of Bernie on the way she treats Howard and this i realized when Raj mentioned how Bernie treats Howard the way his mother treated him. In all seasons Bernie criticized the unhealthy relationship between Howard and his mom, this episode shows how she is no different. Howard did take notice, but not for long…
On another note, I am reallllllllllyyy sad that this season is coming to an end.
Season 8 Episode 22
Nothing special about this episode, but I do have to mention one thing.
Leonard’s speech.
It was great, especially the last part, cause i'm sure a lot of people can relate to it just as much as I can. This may sound cheesy and gross, but I kind of feel more appreciated and more confidant after hearing it. Like, fuck yea I’m not the popular one. Okay I’m done now.
Season 8 Episode 20
Ok this is my second favourite episode after the prom night episode!
1- Howard has a step brother who is super cute. What if he ends up transferring at Caltech? I think he’d be a wonderful addition to the gang.
2- I was not impressed with Leonard’s reaction towards Penny wanting to audition and her making 2x more money than he makes. One reasonable explanation as to why he’d be upset would be the fact that he has a doctorate and has had a steady job for many years, whereas Penny has no college degree and has only had her job in pharmaceuticals for a few months. Penny was a good sport about it, which was great for her character, but I’d never take that kind of shit from no one.
3- The Shamy romance is unbearably cute and I absolutely love seeing their relationship evolve. I was REALLY, but REALLY bummed out that we didn’t get to see the sleepover. Cause yes, that was a very big step. I love the way Sheldon looks at Amy. You can tell that he genuinely loves her.
Dead end to string theory?
In season 1, 15 year old Dennis Kim said that string theory is a dead end. Sheldon disagrees. And in season 7, Sheldon tries to change his field of study because he thinks that string theory can’t be proven.
IS DENNIS RIGHT? Did he own Sheldon??? IS HE SMARTER THAN SHELDON????
