"You've got bonus features! You're like that one guitar Vai made. Hold up-"
👆 "That's you. The guitar, not Steve."
"Oh fuck you're right. You know what I'll take being a sick ass guitar like that though not gonna lie." He might be preening a little now, no he's definitely preening.
"Wait, did you get to choose your godly abilities or did it all come preset?"
"Preset. Apparently I'm earth coded but have a knack for bending lava. So I guess its kind of like modding a cheap amp you get from like, Walmart or something."
"That a product of the whole hidden-god-thing or a regular old human feature?"
"Huh, not sure actually. I guess human? Its not like fire is my cosmic entity chosen feature after all."
"Ahhh, nepotism and bribery. Some of my favourite things. I take it she made good on that promise then seeing as you're still a free man. Unless you're on the lam, in which case you can count on my silence."
"No no, I got away with it. Mostly. Honestly I think what mom had me do would have been considered worse than the couple months of juvie they were talking about giving me." But did he really get away with it when his mother punished him and he hasn't done anything like it since then? "Never could break me of my pyromaniac tendencies though."
"No shit?" he cackles.
"Good on ya! Sometimes the only thing coming out of your mouth that people understand is teeth. How'd you get out of hard time?"
"My mom knows most of the people in the town's police force since she basically paid for their new building and persuaded them to assign me community service and that she promised she would take care of things at home to drive the point through my thick skull," The last bit was a direct quote, he still remembers the chilly look he had gotten from his mother when she drove him home after that incident.
"Oh that would've been a god one too!"
"Sounds like that's the next time sticker. Maybe there's one out there in glitter too."
"Naw, this one fit better."
The nearest reflective surface for him to even see what it says is distorted, but not badly enough that he can't read it. "Horse girl huh? I mean I guess its true but you couldn't find one that says Cowboy Trash?"
Sticker of Truth for Bev, getting stuck directly to his cheek.
He was suddenly very glad that he had shaved this morning. Or that sticker was going to hurt trying to get off. For now though, it gets to stay. "Were the glitter flower stickers not available?"
In the long run, that would not be to Raymond's advantage, but all he could think of right then was short term reward. He didn't mind Cora, but not having to dodge around in the conversation sounded like a relief. "I- That sounds good," he instead said with a little polite smile. "Good plan." Then he could indeed get back to his books.
The girl seemed to bounce in place, grinning ear to ear before darting off the way she came. As swiftly disappearing as she did so appear, almost as silent as a gentle breeze. A strange one, but when your dad was a member of a multiverse detective agency she figured she could afford to be a little weird.
When she came charging up to her father, she all but launched herself at him, forcing him to drop some of the books so he could catch her with one arm. "Dad I met someone you should talk to!"
"Cora..."
"Come oooonn!" Before her father could react she jumped out of his arm and took off again, forcing her father to give the librarian an apologetic look, picking up the books to place on the counter and began to follow her.
"Or me," he says, as if he doesn't fall into both categories. "Bet you handed a lot of people their asses, lot of bruised egos. Must've been exhausting though."
"Or you, correct," This is said, however, with plenty of affection in his voice.
"Oh hell no I got my ass handed to me up until I started biting the other kids in middle school. You'd have been proud. After that it was brawls, the one time I almost ended up in juvie...you know that sort of thing. Won about half of them until I shot up in height."
"I will!" He will.
"It's hard to imagine anyone looking at someone as tall as you and intentionally thinking 'yea I'm gonna pick a fight with that guy'. Out of necessity maybe, but by choice? Can't be too many, yea?"
"These days its usually either people who have all the audacity of a cracked out badger or who have a complex of some sort. Otherwise it doesn't happen nearly as much as it used to when I was a kid. That used to happen all the time until I got into hockey and sprouted up like a weed my senior year."
"Least I'm not alone then."
"Heh, thanks. Your sister taught me that."
Of course she did... "Remind me to thank her for that properly later."
Very slowly he sat up, resting back on his palms. Oh yeah, his back was definitely going to be protesting. Hart or not, age was a bitch. "Heh, been a while since anyone has been able to throw me onto my back."
@hirvenxsoturi continued from here
Just because something is a success doesn’t mean it can’t be a mistake as well. Much like Bev, Judas is left laying on his back, staring up towards the sky for what feels like eternity as he re-evaluates his life choices. “That hurt you, too?”
Don't mind him, he's just going to lay here for a while and admire the way the sky looks. "Y-up," He managed to wheeze out. The wind had definitely been knocked right out of him. "Cool move though."
