Story time!
My daughter Jaylah got a new bed. It’s a trundle. My husband Joe put it together with some help from me and Jaylah. While he was getting closer to being done he says:
“There’s no more washers”
Me: “what for real?”
Him: “yeah now what do we do?”
*Me thinking in silence for a bit*
Me: “I’m pretty sure you have some in your tools down stairs”
Him: “I don’t think so”
Me:” I feel like I’ve seen some down there”
Him: “well feel free to go check then”
* I go down stairs*
I’m looking and looking, then I start talking to the Lord:
Me: “Hey, Lord can you help me find some washers?”
*Looking some more* and I come across a BIG washer and I was like:
“Well, Lord thank you but I need a smaller one”
*searching some more, opening up drawers* and then I find tiny ones lol
Me: “oh Lord thank you *chuckles* but I need some that are a lil bit bigger then these”
There was some tools on top of his tool box, where a lid can open up, but I was avoiding moving all of it cuz I didn’t want to do that but I said:
“Ok Lord I’ll move these tools off and open the top of this to look. Man I hope there in here I wanna help my husband and get this bed finished.”
*Moved the tools, opened the lid and looked around*
Then on a tan small box I see the word washer, I open it and BAM! 💥 the correct size washers we need!!!
Very happy I say “thank you thank you thank you Lord!! “
Brought them to Joe and he was like 🫨
“whatttt, you got lucky” I said “No that was all the Lord!” Then told him my convo with God and what happened and he was like that’s awesome!
Lil Lesson in that: I didn’t feel like moving those heavy tools off the top of the toolbox, but I pushed past that resistance, and that is exactly where the answer was waiting for me. If I didn’t we wouldn’t have a finished bed. It is amazing how a frustrating moment like missing parts turned into a beautiful, faith building moment for me lol also shows how paying attention to those small, nudging thoughts (listening to the Holy Spirit) can lead to exactly what we need when we surrender. It’s seen as a test of discipline, obedience, or personal growth. The idea is that comfort can sometimes keep us stagnant, while the things we resist the most—like hard conversations, disciplined habits, or serving others when we are tired—are exactly what shape our character and build our faith and trust.
God is interested in everything that we’re going through, invite him in it and He can teach us anything through anything. He is a good good father.
Jaylah is sleeping in her new bed and loves it.
