Hello, my name is Katia López; I am 16 years old and I have cystic fibrosis, a chronic and incurable disease. In my life, I had always been sick and despite going to different doctors never found what I had until I turned 10 years old, because I suffered a relapse that led me to spend more than 15 days in the hospital and that’s when I was detected with the disease. Since that day my life changed drastically, now I depend on nebulizations, pills to gain weight, daily therapies and intravenous medications every month (which by the way are very expensive) and I need to be connected to oxygen 13 hours a day, which affects completely my activities and makes it difficult for me to do things as simple as climbing the stairs, walking short distances, jumping, etc., things that a normal teenager does very easily. I have suffered many relapses that have been deteriorating my lungs so I am in an urgent need of a lung transplant to have a better life. Thanks for helping me!

Hola ! Mi nombre es Katia López, tengo 16 años y padezco de fibrosis quística, una enfermedad crónica e incurable. En mi vida siempre había estado enferma y a pesar de ir con diferentes doctores nunca encontraron que tenía hasta que cumplí 10 años, porque sufrí una recaída que me llevo a pasar más de 15 días en el hospital y ahí fue cuando me la detectaron. Desde ese día mi vida cambió drásticamente, ahora dependo de nebulizaciones, pastillas para poder subir de peso, terapias diarias y medicamentos intravenosos cada mes (que por cierto son muy costosos) y necesito estar conectada a un oxigeno 13 horas al día, lo que afecta completamente mis actividades y me dificulta hacer cosas tan simples como subir las escaleras, caminar distancias cortas, saltar, en fin, cosas que una adolescente normal hace con mucha facilidad. He sufrido muchas recaídas que han ido deteriorando mis pulmones por lo cual me encuentro en la urgente necesidad de realizarme un trasplante pulmonar para poder mejorar y alargar mi calidad de vida. Ayudame a alcanzar la meta!
