OOC: Howard & Josephine

HI PIPPA!!!!!!!!!! it’s jenn and i’m already in luv with you/josephine hehe. where do we even begin with these two?????? <3

HI JENN ♥ i am similarly in love with you/howard oops. i am so excited for these two ngl. so how i see it is that howard and josephine are basically life partners; they’ve been working with each other for long enough (i’m thinking several years at least) at this point to have this understanding of each other where they just /get/ each other? they can communicate with a look, and have a repertoire of ploys/maneuvers/cover stories/combat routines/machinations/etc ready to go whenever, so well practised that they can just fall into place if the situation calls for it. i can totally see them having posed as husband/wife before. they just work really well together is what i’m saying x) like their fighting styles compliment each other: where josephine is all planning, find weaknesses, key strikes, maybe howard is better at improvising, brute forcing if necessary.

i imagine howard is one of the few people josephine feels comfortable enough around to be honest with, and i see them having full faith and trust in one another no matter what, i don’t doubt they’ve saved each other’s lives a bunch of times. they see each other eye to eye without judgement. also this post? thoughts? totally ran across it bc zoe saldana fc but it maybe sorta works?

when it comes to the #HunterSquad, they are totally the Mum™ and Dad™. I imagine josephine may have been a little reluctant when howard started recruiting folks (she would happily work alone with him + she’s not overly keen on getting others involved the DANGEROUS SUPERNATURAL MONSTER HUNTING LYF) but she’s totally warmed to it and appreciates their little hunter family now more than anything and would do anything to protect them

HEY JENN (⌒▽⌒)☆ so cora is lovely and here are my thoughts:

maybe josephine recruited cora? perhaps discovered her/took cora under her wing and trained her herself? I imagine josephine saw cora’s fire, recognised her bravery and smarts and thought she would train her herself. being able to play people and have connections are super helpful also. 

depending on how recently cora became a hunter, it even could have been the recent vampire she faced? if not, then perhaps she ended up involved in a hunt that josephine was on, since she tends only to involve people who are already a bit involved oops

either way, josephine could have been the one to come through for her on the vampire hunt, since she was betrayed by another hunter (”we’re not all bad”) if that works for you?? i’m cool with whatever, just brainstorming ideas x)

likes her forward thinking nature, respects her Realness™

one thing tho, josephine may be concerned that cora’s ego will hinder her/her aggressiveness may get her into more trouble than it’s worth. josephine basically wants all her hunter children to be safe basically, and cora seems so much younger due to her impulsivity, where josephine is the opposite

HI (￣▽￣)ノ so i was totally snooping on your ooc threads and saw that rick may have been in a psych ward/his sister wanted to get him psychological help? and it gave me an idea. rick could have been recruited by josephine? either through her ~connections~ she heard about a man returned from poland mercenary work raving about monsters OR she heard about a group of changelings in poland through the ~hunter grapevine~ and followed up on it, and found out rick was the only survivor (after his friend died). she could have gone to meet him to see if he was legit, and basically saved him from the psych ward? she’s not one to get people involved who don’t already know something of the supernatural, but no one deserves to be institutionalised for having the misfortune of encountering monsters. she probably wouldn’t have forced him to become a hunter but you also mentioned he didn’t have a tonne of purpose at that point in his life so maybe he chose it for himself then? not to mention they have a fair amount in common personality-wise when it comes to hunting so... lmk what you think :)

josephine gresham: you’ll know it when it happens

comes across as fearless and strong at all times; it’s a facade she has perfected over the years, and few really see past it

largely keeps her emotions on lock down

eg. if someone insults her/her hunter children she won’t lash out in response

however she is totally the sort to work people behind the scenes to ruin their reputation/make life difficult for them, in such a way that it will be near impossible to trace it back to her

she needs to be serious for her work, but tends to take everything seriously

needs to Lighten Up

finds it difficult to let people get close to her, probably due to past experiences where she has lost people :( more on this later

however, she is VERY protective of her hunter family, becomes a fierce mama bear if anyone hurts them

her job is her life’s purpose basically; protecting innocents from evil monsters is what she does

Knows Things™

wiser than her years tbh

on any sort of hunt she always errs on the side of caution - knowledge and planning are everything - and she’ll do whatever it takes to ensure as few as possible casualties, ideally no human deaths

literally knows everything there is to know about all kinds of monsters, even the ones she has not faced herself; she has spent a fair amount of her time as a hunter dedicated to research and training

tries not to get people involved in the hunter lifestyle who don’t already know about monsters as she doesn’t want to endanger people unnecessarily, the hunter life isn’t exactly the best one in terms of life expectancy

however, if the truth will save someone’s life then she may just break that rule, though she is normally able to work around it

Howard largely respects these wishes, since he does most of the recruiting

with the #greshamsquad, she is very much the one in charge who organises everyone for hunts and holds the fort; she makes sure to check in on everyone after each hunt also, if anyone needs medical care or time off then ofc she will make it happen for them

nonetheless she often leads hunts herself, and is an experienced and agile fighter, though she prefers stealth/manipulation to straight battles simply due to there being less risk of people dying (her team or innocents)

proficient in most weapons (she regularly trains, esp if she thinks a certain skill/combat type will be useful in an upcoming hunt) 

her fav is probably her crossbow

has ~connections~ in the hunter community

has a small stack of false identities prepared at any given moment

ULTRA PREPARED IS JOSEPHINE

seriously needs to lighten up

she doesn’t really ever let herself relax or have fun

no one knows this but there’s a lot of fear behind her confident exterior

she’s scared of losing people again, of getting more innocent blood on her hands, scared that if she lets herself enjoy things then she is betraying ? someone?? something? ?? 

it’s not entirely rational but she doesn’t want to dig too deep

she needs to feel guilty, she holds that weight so no one else has to

she doesn’t think she deserves happiness basically
