Pokémon Winds and Waves reveal, for Switch 2 in 2027!

Here they are! The next generation has been officially confirmed. Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will be the new games, coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2... sometime in 2027 (which is a surprising date).

This game will take place in some sort of tropical region, again with a open world to explore... and it looks stunning. But the best thing are the new starters.

Browt: Grass type

Pombon: Fire type

Gecqua: Water type

Additionally, there will be two new Pikachu forms in this game: Mr. Windychu and Ms. Windychu. What role they play in the games is still unknown, but they seem important.

And a final lok at the trainer avatars for this game. Depending on the version, they have different hats and bags and... are those hoverboards?

Impressions Nintendo Direct 6.9.2026

Hi everybody! I decided to repurpose this blog (mostly I can't post Pokémon news directly when they are available) and instead this will be my side blog where I post opinions about things I like. I like games and so, this first entry will be my impression on the recent Nintendo Direct.

'Cause yeah, I watched it. And it was quite good.

Sure, most announcements were RPG games and I don't play them that much recently, but we gotta admit there were lots of important games in there. Capcom still shows they are supporting the Switch 2 with even more games (we knew about DMC5 from leaks, but Onimusha and Dragons Dogma 2 were good surprises). Square Enix doesn't fall shart either: an adaptation of FF Brave Exvius, a small trailer for FF14 and the whole Kingdom Hearts Collection including KH4. Even with fucking Disney in the middle, that series is an important addition to the console's library.

There are then other interesting third-party announcements that I'd say they are relevant:

-Stellar Blade: yeah, I know about the problems with this game and the CEO, but it's popular and recent, so it makes the library stronger.

-Lords of the Fallen II and RuneScape: don't know much about them, but I heard them during SGF.

-Ninjala 2: Am I the only one actually excited about this? I didn't play much Ninjala, but I still loved the art style and the gameplay. I'm looking forward to it

-Lies of P and Metaphor Refantazio: didn't play them, but I know they are super popular as well.

And I know there are other third party announcements, just can't remember them all. But this is a NINTENDO Direct, so it's time for Nintendo stuff.

-Rhythm Paradise Groove: looks awesome. I'm looking forward to it and see the new minigames (especially the RPG-like one).

-Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave: also looks interesting, but I hope they show a bit more before release

-Splatoon Raiders: that looks fun and I'm looking forward to the direct.

-Nintendo Switch Sports Resort: I mean, that looks nice. If it weren't because it's just motion controls mandatorily, I'd buy it, especially because I love the style of sportsmates and I'd use it as a character customizer

-Pokopia DLC: honestly, didn't see it coming, but it's nice. Two new areas during the coming months should expand gameplay (sadly, I'm not the best at construction games so I didn't buy it)

-Everything Xenoblade: I expect one Switch 2 Edition, but confirming the whole trilogy gets upgrades was hillarious. And Xenoblade Genesis looks interesting.

-Ocarina of Time Remake: I was scared about the art style. It looked more realistic than I initially expected, but it doesn't look entirely bad. Now, we gotta see more gameplay to check the changes and if it was worth doing this kind of remake.

In the end, contrary to what some people may think, I think this was a nice Direct. We got some interesting announcements from Nintendo, but the main message here was that third-party support is getting even stronger than during the Switch 1 era. Just hoping it doesn't wind down.

Pokémon TCG Pocket Mega Shine themed booster now available

I forgot posting about this last week when it was announced, but a friendly reminder is always good. Mega Shine, the new themed booster pack for Pokémon TCG Pocket, is now available. This small expansion not only brings new megaevolutions like Mega Charizard X, Mega Slowbro or Mega Gengar, but it also introduces a lot of new shiny Pokémon (as its name states).

Pokémon Champions available on April 8th!

Well, we know Pokémon Champions was due to arrive on Nintendo Switch sometime in April, but we got an official release date and it's quite close.

Through a new overview trailer, Nintendo has confirmed Pokémon Champions will release on Nintendo Switch on April 8th. The game will also have a free update for Nintendo Switch 2 users to offer better graphics.

Aside from that, the trailer focuses on everything you can do in the game: battle, recruit, train and repeat. You can spend VP not only in Pokémon, but in buying items, clothing and music.

Along with this information, it has been confirmed what abilities some new megaevolution will get.

Mega Meganium will get a new ability called Mega Sol, which lets its user use any attack as if it were always sunny weather. That means one-turn Solar Beam all year round.

Mega Emboar gets Mold Breaker, which nullifies abilities that nullify other attacks (for example, a Pokémon with Levitate can be harmed by Ground-type attacks if the user has Mold Breaker)

Mega Feraligatr also gets a new ability called Dragonize, which simply turns any Normal-type move into a Dragon-type move, increasing its power if the user is Dragon-type.

Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness now available on Nintendo Switch 2 NSO subscription

While TPC announced back in the Pokémon Day that Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness, the second RPG adventure exclusive to the Game Cube, would be available sometime in March, we didn't have a specific date. Well, look at that, we can play it now!

Nintendo just released Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness on the Game Cube emulator for Nintendo Switch 2. Remember that you must have an active Nintendo Switch Online premium subscription to access this and the other Game Cube games. Now the question is: when will we see Pokémon Colosseum? It may be the April title.

Pokémon TCG Chaos Rising expansion revealed

Even though Perfect Order is releasing this very same month, TPC has decided to officially confirm the next expansion in the west. Called Chaos Rising (in Japan it is Ninja Spinner), this expansion features Mega Greninja ex, Mega Floette ex, Mega Dragalge ex and Mega Pyroar ex, along with other interesting cards.

Chaos Rising will release on May 22nd in the West.

Pokémon Masters EX: new Marnie and Bede Sync Pairs!

Pokémon Masters EX has announced the upcoming event with two new Sync Pairs. Marnie and Bede from Pokémon Sword and Shield will appear once again, this time with their iconic Gym Leader outfits and accompanied by Grimmsnarl and Galarian Rapidash respectively.

Pokémon Pokopia sells 2.2 million units in just 4 days!

Lots of people kinda expected Pokémon Pokopia to be a big seller given its blend of Pokémon and Minecraft-like crafting and building (with a lot of inspiration from the Dragon Quest Builders series), but it sure was a hit!

TPC has just confirmed Pokémon Pokopia has sold 2.2 million units in its first 4 days since release, that is, from last Thursday to last Sunday. The country it sold the most seems to be Japan, since it has sold 1 million units in there.

This probably sets Pokémon Pokopia as the best-selling spin-off for the franchise and there is still room for it to grow and keep expanding. It is quite remarkable given it is a Switch 2 exclusive game.

Pokémon TCG: new Mega Lucario ex deck releasing in May

I recently got into Pokémon TCG so right now my options are a bit limited. That's why something like this may be nice for me.

TPC has just announced the release of a Mega Lucario ex League Battle Deck. It will be available by May for 30$/30€ and it will include interesting cards like a Secret Box, Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex or Fezandipiti ex.

Pokémon Pokopia first event: get Hoppip, Jumpluff and Skiploom!

Pokémon Pokopia is around the corner, with people already enjoying it. Reviews are super good and it's making my interest in it grow like never before.

Given the game formula, it was expected that it would get additional content overtime, but it's coming much sooner. TPC has confirmed the very first time event for Pokémon Pokopia. In this event, that goes from March 10th to 25th, three new Pokémon will be available: Hoppip, Jumpluff and Skiploom. There will be a new item, Cotton, that you can use to befriend Hoppip and later build the habitats for the other two. There will be themed furniture as well.

Pokémon Plakoro announced! Dice battles return

Of course, Japan is the home of the most unexpected games I can imagine and now TPC has announced the return of a classic board game called Pokémon Plakoro.

In this game, you battle against other player throwing dice and Pokémon figurines. The dices (which you can customize) determine the energy of each turn and allows you to use different moves. Also, the position the Pokémon falls on the board adds additional effects to your moves.

After so many years, they are releasing this game again. There will be 6 starter packs with Pikachu, Eevee, Kanto starters and Mew, and there will be an additional set with Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. This will be available in Japan in July.

Special Red, Florian and Juliana coming to Pokémon Masters EX

There couldn't be Pokémon Presents without its section dedicated to smartphone games (and it was actually short, like always). I'm not very fond to these games... except Masters EX, which I have played occasionally.

Pokémon Masters EX is receiving new characters, beginning with Red and Pikachu, but Red has its original design from the 1996 games. Aside from that, we are getting Florian teaming up with Ogerpon and Juliana with Terapagos, both in special Anniversary 2026 outfits.

I must admit, the reference to the original games is funny. Florian doesn't look bad, but Juliana looks amazing with that dress.

Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness arrives on Switch 2 in March

We already knew that the classic Game Cube games, that is, Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness, will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 via de Game Cube emulator in the NSO subscription. So far we got other games, but not these ones. This is going to change soon.

During the Pokémon Presents, TPC confirmed that Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 through the NSO sometime in March. It's interesting that they chose the second title first, but given it's the less known one, maybe they wanted to take the presentation to showcase and promote it.

Pokémon FireRed LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch feature Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket

One of the few surprises from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch was finding out the limited-time events are available.

For those that may not remember, in these games, you need special items called Mystic Ticket and Aurora Ticket if you wanted to catch Deoxys, Lugia and Ho-Oh in FireRed and LeafGreen. Sadly, the only way of getting these items was going to a physical events and get them transferred or sending your cartridge via mail to such physical event.

Now that the games are available on Nintendo Switch, there was that doubt of the events being there or not. Well, they are! Rigth after you defeat the Pokémon League, you will automatically receive both the Mystic Ticket and the Aurora Ticket. With them, you can go on ship to special islands were these legendary Pokémon await.

Pokémon FireRed LeafGreen now available on Switch, with HOME support in the future

This wasn't exactly a surprise. Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Gen 1 remakes for GBA, were announced a couple of weeks ago and released on Pokémon Day, February 27th. TPC released a new trailer for the games and confirmed Pokémon HOME compatibility.

Yeah, HOME compatibility was first mentioned in the text from the eShop, but was taken down a bit after. Some fans believed this meant there wouldn't be such compatibility, while others thought TPC wanted to make that reveal during the presentation... and that's what happened. So yeah, these games will be compatible with Pokémon HOME. Of course, it means you can send your Pokémon from FireRed and LeafGreen to HOME (but no viceversa) and then transfer them to other games or use them in Champions.
