got his first real viral moment when he got a treadmill to use while streaming and genuinely unfazed through 7 hours stream while fully focused on the game. then ring fit adventure, then vr fighting games. breezed through all that easy, hes good art exercising and martial arts it turned out. got himself the setup that registers his irl steps into open world game steps later etc.
oh also clips of him holding his bangs up bc of sweat went viral, some thirsty folks are out there

Blue Beast 15 Years Improvement Comparison etc. he cried winning too so folks started to get really endeared. his stubborn persistence worked for once bc they discovered that he used to do ten hours training streams without actually witnessing it real time. gai used to be made fun of for it, and one clipper smartly edited the screenshots of the comments in to really play up the emotions

og shippers were always there, small crowd but loyal although mostly for kakashi. their numbers quietly but steadily increases.
rivarly matches is a series spanning hundreds of episode with a wikia tallying the scores official and unofficial. they do all sorts of games and stupid shit in it.
both tried a streamer house for a bit. didnt work out for them, in kakashi's case mainly because he has fuck ton of dogs. it went through several phases of main roster changes like offline tv for example. but while they both were there there were tons of moments where you can spot both on eachothers stream, or together sometimes in other streamers', and the brief sightings read very domestic to the shippers. blu3crow stocks went up quite a bit.
they mentioned their rough childhoods several times, and they got close when they were younger and things were rough. didnt go into much details though, so there are speculations
them as a ship REALLY rose to popularity after a irl stream in gais channel with kakashi off camera to his side. they had a Moment, reminiscing about their past that hinted at a deeper history. gai had always been openly appreciative of anyone deserving, but kakashi is mentioned the most often (almost dethroned by lee). but kakashi is usually more aloof about these things, so when he dropped "hey. if anything happens to me, you will come running, right?" "well of course! no doubt about that!!" followed by a soft "thanks." and a hand to the shoulder, it changed many's brain chemistry. there are edits being made of it to this day
gai went through a long hiatus because of an accident that lost him his leg. throughout the hiatus updates will come from kakashi if not from his own account or lee's. kakashi's own activities lessened too. again, there were speculations.
gai came back and slowly got back into rhythm, with friends and new and old making appearances in his channel and streams. meanwhile kakashi helped naruto with building his agency and streamed way less.
they never announced this, but gai and kakashi moved in together. what is really going on between them, well, we may never know...
