ive been obsessed with this musical for a year i cant believe theres other fans out there
Oh man I remember being that one-member fan. Don’t worry friend, we are here! This account isn’t as active anymore because I have inevitably found other obsessions since I first fell in love with this show 15 years ago, but it will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to reblog stuff when/if I see it

i'm not a boy. i'm an animal.
id: a drawing of Edgar from Bat Boy. the entire drawing is in shades of red. he is kneeling on the ground with his hands flat, looking upwards. he is wearing a short sleeved button up, suspenders, and shorts. Edgar has a neutral expression with his mouth open. his fangs are covered in blood and his mouth is dripping blood. there is also blood on Edgar's collar. there is a spotlight on Edgar. end id

honestly, I just want Bat Boy: The Musical to come back to NYC. I feel like the world was not ready for Bat Boy when it first came out... but these days I think a weird little show like that would have a fun, bonkers fandom that would get absolutely bizarre about it.
like! for a show about a cryptid created for a trash tabloid, it went so much harder than it had to! the music is fantastic! the characters are interesting! and its discussions of diversity/inclusion and toxic masculinity are more pertinent than ever!
it was a genuinely good show, if weird as hell, and I stand by that! lmao
I'm 1 day late but HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL!!!
Our favorite bat-eared friend was taken from his cave by the Taylor kids a whole 22 years ago!
Finally finished my history of illustration project! We had to pick two illustrators to make ads, and I wanted to draw bat boy in Rockwell’s and Phillip’s style. This took far longer than I thought it would but I’m happy with it <:^)
baby bat boy :”)
“i’m still not sure how people pray, or what one does with one’s hands. but please, my thirst grow every day; i can feel it burn my glands. please won’t you change the way i am, or prove i’m human underneath;or if you just don’t give a damn you could at least get rid of these?”
( got my hands on a copy of the bat boy script! also the vibes i ended up with for the background definitely were reminding me of one of @grirnoires bat boy drawings :) )
wheee
COMFORT AND JOY! (KILL THE BAT BOY!)

I got a fucking bone to pick with the cover of the London cast recording of Bat Boy.
Okay, for comparison's sake, here's the original Off-Broadway cover:
This is like, the perfect album cover for the show. It shows the main character Edgar reading the WWN article that the original Bat Boy story that (loosely) inspired this musical is from. But he looks nothing like the Bat Boy on the cover of the magazine, as though the WNN story was some kind of sensationalized fabrication in this universe, based on the idea of a Bat Boy found in a cave, ignoring the "real" Bat Boy's actual- and much more tragic story. It tells the audience not to expect the car-stealing metal band guitarist Bat Boy that we know from WWN. Plus, it's just a charming and visually appealing cover overall.
Compare that with the London album's cover:
Ew. It's ugly, it's simplistic, and it has none of the clever storytelling of the Off-Broadway album cover. The red and yellow color scheme is an eyesore. What's with the red "Text" in the center (for the record, I've only ever seen that on stock images of the album, so I doubt it's on the actual physical CD case)? The London Metro review was unneeded. Overall, it tells you nothing about the show, and it's visually ugly. But hey... the O in "Boy" is a blood splatter shaped like Edgar's head? Neat, I guess??
