the bell rings as the dark dull figure steps through the door around 6:30 in the morning, smelling of cigarettes and manila folders and parking lots after it's rained. he grumbles as he trods tiredly to the counter, seemingly annoyed when he checks his watch as he shakes it and holds it up to his ear. he sits down with a huff and rests his face in his hand.
"boy, what a day..." he seems to be unaware of the time, thinking that it's still the late night of yesterday.

Should I go ahead and get the coffee pot going?
"yes please," he mutters without taking his hand away.
"morning, really...?"
he grumbles under his breath about it, moving his arms to rest on the counter in front of him.
[She flicks on the coffee pot.]
Just a couple minutes on that.
[She passes him a menu.]
What had you up so late last night?
he keeps his head down, looks at the menu on the counter.
"...work."
You must be getting quite the overtime.
he snorts.
"i'm self employed, miss h- ... miss. ma'am."
[She catches the slip of the tongue.]
Don't know what all the secrecy is for. It's not like my name is something that I hide.
"well it's just, i, er... haven't met you in person before. so i wasn't sure if it'd be strange that i'd know your name."
Not at all, but I am curious now how you know it.
