“Holly, what is this for?” Eddie asked as he walked through the house waving the credit card statement.
@hollymiller
“Yes?” Holly responds, deflecting the question for a second while she wonders exactly what transaction he’s questioning.
“...Is this about the pot plants? Because they died a month after I brought them home, and the nursery refused to refund me for them”
Name: Holly Miller
Pronouns: She/Her
Age and birthday: October 16th. 29
Residence Status: Local
Occupation: Driving instructor
Played by: Ruby
Holly Miller, born Holliday Mantione; the youngest of a trio of rambunctious children. A bubbly child, forever questioning everything with ‘why’ and ‘how’ and ‘what’s that?’ about everything around her from the sky being blue, to the tools and mechanics of her dad’s beloved 78 Camaro. She was curious and inquisitive with a mass of wavy mousy coloured hair always pulled up and barely held with a scrunchie of some description.
Although not the brightest academically, Holly was good with her hands loving nothing more than spending her evenings and weekends helping her dad at his garage with oil streaked arms and a furrowed brow learning about the cars and motors of any sort of wheeled contraption that rolled through the doors of Mantione’s Garage.
Her head wasn’t in the education side of school though she lived a full ‘high school experience’ earning a spot on the cheer team, having a breakout role as ‘Tree Number 3’ in the school production of Into the Woods, and being on the schools social committee, though for all her floating, she’d still come up blank when anyone asked her ‘what do you want to do with your life?’ though as she got her licence, and helped out with her friends younger siblings? She realised she had a knack for teaching people how to drive. Her easygoing demeanour keeping them calm, but her words and advice firm enough for them to pay attention. Unsure if it was a viable career path? She spoke to her parents about her plan before enrolling in the necessary courses. While studying, she continued to work in her family business to earn some extra money, though she also undertook another part-time job at the Boardwalk of an evening at the Dodgem Cars since they so often needed fixing or small repairs, it made sense to have someone mechanically minded to be around, but charismatic enough to draw in customers..
This job happened to be the place where she met Eddie. A sweet, somewhat nerdy looking guy who couldn’t drive a dodgem to save his life. A teasing comment in his direction nearly had her floored when he asked her for drink, and without even thinking? She’d agreed to meet him at the margarita cart after her shift finished. Two margaritas later? She’d been walked to her car, and bid goodnight with a plan for lunch the following day.
The lunch date went as well as the night before, conversation flowing between them.easily, some teasing grazing of their hands and as much as she didn’t admit it? Holly was hooked. Though she fully expected it to be a quick fling as Eddie had to go back to Sacramento after the wedding. Though a few days later, she found herself calling him to tell him about something funny she’d seen earlier and the floodgates had opened with them messaging, calling everyday until after a month of electronic contact, they met again finding their connection just as strong in person, though Eddie; ever the gentleman paid for two rooms though they only used the one until finally Holly told him to save his money. They continued their long distance relationship over the next two years introducing each other to their families, and much to Eddie’s relief, Lauren and Holly hit it off almost instantly, even if they are going to be the reason his hair is prematurely grey.
When Eddie’s job lead him back to Eugene, it took a little less than a year for Holly to officially move in with him, though by that point it was all but official. A year later they officially tied the knot and have been happily married for four years, planning for their future and considering the possibility of raising their own family.
What is their opinion about the boardwalk and its effect on the town?
Holly loves the boardwalk because it reminds her of her childhood, and symbolises everything she loves about the town. Though she’s aware that her nostalgia can sometimes blind her to the fact it is getting old and not quite as good as it used to be. Though she also wants her own children to experience the magic and worries about what Aldridge Bay would be without it.
