So the AC has been broken in my room preventing my from doing any work, gaming, writing(like as a hobby not work), or discord chats with my full set up. I have been confined to coffee shops and the like to keep on task, I even went to the airport to just sit and exist & write for a while cause it was giving me anxiety... guys i did it, I've given myself hobby anxiety,

I've grown to dislike the discussion of tropes when talking about movies, tv, and books.

The discussion never feels... like anyone is saying adding to a converstion, "WOW this is the best example of X trope, I usually don't like x trope but this time they did it well" especially since while writing i found my Playlist going over videos discussing tropes (my little writing Playlist is a mix of videos and music that a friend made me cause he's my mans) but they are half the time just explaining basic relationship ideas through almost buzzword or buzzphrases instead of delving into them, the only time this isnt the case is with Overly Sarcastic Productions trope talk, they are MOSTLY fine videos for broad concepts like immortality which is something that plays heavily into my own book, that, I appreciate.

I want to be clear, there's no problem with being a fan of the tv tropes website but when the main way you can communicate what you like about a story is with tropes as the internet slips into listicle hell of its own making that feels like, if not death of media literacy the commodification of a dumbed down version?

The issue isn't even that people use them, it's that their thoughts end there with there are good trope and bad tropes when that isn't how writing has ever been

He doesn't really update it anymore after we talked one night (the night wasn't really "a discussion" just brought it up when we scrolled passed a video regarding the topic)
