My brains prefers when I write my first draft out long hand because I can go with the flow of my ideas better with pen and paper than with typing.

But my hand hates that I write my first draft out long hand because I use so much pressure with my pen you’d think I was trying to staunch a bloody wound.

Tried out Ellipsus because I’m always hearing rave reviews about it.

But does anyone else using it have the site’s spellcheck function tell them that words that are real words are in fact not real?

Like it’s telling me words like “ownerless” and “loose limbed” and “misshapen” are not words.

And then I can’t figure out how to add words to my dictionary. Like my main character’s name is Bram , like Bram Stoker, and Ellipsus keeps wanting me to “fix” that

I think I might just stick with Milanote

I have to ask how would Marcus reacted to nobody being able to find our dearest Jude? I know Danny and his sock collection would be something to go down for history but I feel like Jude being gone would be bigger 🌚

Although Jude vanishing for a few hours at a time isn't unusual (since she's either in the Realm or the Pocket), her NOT coming home in a timely manner or at least showing up where Marcus is to 'check in' would raise a lot of concern. It would take a simple text chain between the Realm and Pocket to confirm no one knows where tf she is for Marcus to go nuclear.

Marcus would fight god for his cat, and anyone who gets in his way is going to find out fast. No stone will go unturned. He will stick his head in Demi's mouth to look for fur. He will try to climb inside Dredge's shadow to look for her. Dredge doesn't like this and neither does anyone else, but he has to make sure Jude's not in there. (She's not.) He will scour Silent Hill and lead a one man charge against the Church if he has too. Pyramid Head won't actually let him do that but by god he's gonna try.

Don't worry, Jude's fine. She's at Nana Taylor's, which is honestly the last thing Marcus would think of...

Okay this is a bit of a theory butttt I think marcus has some kind of power where the killers that are coming out of the woods and see him in a sort of way. Like some kind of outline of him which is what’s drawing the killers out. Due to the entity being killed and Marcus being somewhat close maybe a bit if its powers transit over to Marcus ????. (Sorry this is long 🫩

It makes me sad how many people use Gen-AI for their fanfics and for other activities. Where’s your curiosity? Do you not yearn to learn and research? To ask questions? I know we are a society of people pleasers, but we should have failure and mistakes in our lives. Failure is necessary for growth and learning. Sometimes it’s the only way we can become better people.

If you want to be a better writer, write. It does not have to be good, just write for the sake of writing something. Take the time to write morning pages, learn about yourself as an artist. Write bad poetry and read it at open mic nights. Find other writers and have a writing circle. Ask for feedback! These things take time and effort, but it is worth it. As a writer, some of the best writing advice I received came from being embarrassed.

Whatever you do, don’t take shortcuts. AI is a shortcut. It steals from other artists, uses up valuable water resources, and does not improve your skills in the slightest. AI denies you the chance to become the better version of yourself as a writer.

Do any other writers ink things down on scrap papers and then remake it digitally later? Do you keep the scraps in a little hoard to look back at all of your progress? Do you make it a collage on a corkboard?

I find the Ellipsus stats mildly interesting but not surprising about my writing lol. You can pry that em dash from my cold, dead hands.
