Gratitude - Tidying Up With Marie Kondo (2019)
I know people make a lot of fun of Marie Kondo, but I felt like her book was the first organizational guide I’ve ever read that acknowledged people having an emotional attachment to possessions as natural and healthy, instead of telling you you’re an awful person for feeling sad over objects.

I was in the yard the first time my dog noticed the moon.
It sounds silly, but it’s the only way I can explain it. He must have been - eighteen months? Two years old? and we were in the backyard, pottering around and weeding, and saw him suddenly go still and alert like he does when he’s about to race across the yard yelling at birds. Tail fluffy and raised - if you’ve seen a goldie At Attention you know what I mean.
And then he sort of… Stalked over to the northeast corner of the yard. The moon had risen but it was still light, so it must have been summer, and it was a full moon or close to; still relatively low on the horizon, fat and white and looming. And the dog got up on his hind legs, put his paws on the fence, and stared at it. Just stared. For a good five minutes.
