Given how fond Killua is of his partner, it would be expected for the mentioning of Gon to only further lighten his face, but the opposite occurred: he could be described as growing markedly passive, and both arms reached up behind his head, an indication of indifference, or at least a front of it.
“ Yeah. He arrived here about a week ago. ” Even though physically incapable of looking down at most others due to his short stature, he still maintained the appearance of doing so as he appraised the other–his friend, and Gon’s friend, too. Although the nightmare wrought in NGL ended a number of months ago, speaking in regards to his partner could not help but make him wonder–
Where were you when Gon was … ?
Ultimately, he managed to return Gon to a normal state without Kurapika’s assistance, so no true fault could be cast toward his friend, especially considering that Killua intended to achieve that feat alone to begin with; but he could not help but feel a twinge of irritation when contemplating the matter, as Gon was there when Kurapika needed his help … so for what reason was the gesture not returned– for what reason was Gon, someone who helps everyone, not shown the same care? –And it is in this way that he felt the most aggravation.
And Killua, having grown into a fiercely protective person, now felt wariness toward the prospect of something similar happening again, of his partner getting hurt and the Kurta being nowhere to be found.
Spinning on his heel, he proceeded forward to begin escorting the other around the city, although his words remained fixed upon the previous topic.
“ I can take you to him later… he’d be happy to see you. You two haven’t talked to each other since Yorknew, right? ”
He turned his head, intrigued.
He hadn’t gotten much of the news, since he had constantly ghosted the other three to focus on his own mission. It was only until he recently got into contact with Leorio again that he heard what happened to Gon while he was gone for such a prolonged period. Apparently, he had been healed by a miracle. Leorio told Kurapika pretty excitedly how Gon seemed to be back in one piece and how there were no signs of injuries on his body.
He didn’t want to seem to be a pessimist but was it really true? If he came out alive, he’d have to have some deep wounds on his body at least.
Unless this was the work of that rumored Dark Continent creature?
No, that can’t be it... could it?
“I know he got into a pretty intense battle, is he completely healed from that?”
He couldn’t help but ask either way, he needed some confirmation. Usually, he believed Leorio but that story seemed tricky to believe. Could miracles happen that easily...? Before he could wander off into the thoughts he had constantly, he followed the younger one’s path.
“No, we haven’t. I haven’t talked to you in quite a while either.”
