Hey :) I was just wondering how much physics and math are in the optometry degree?

Hey there! Thanks for your question!

To be honest... a little, but not too much. In first year, we were required to sit a mathematics course and a physics course, but these courses were only just slightly harder than they were back in high school. As you’d expect as well, learning about the optics of light and lenses involves maths and physics, but the concepts introduced in optics don’t really require a deep background knowledge of the two individual subjects. You mostly learn completely new things, and the maths involved is generally simple algebra and the occasional use of trigonometry. 

I’m not too sure how it is for Optometry schools other than my own, but in short, there’s not a huge focus on maths and physics in Optometry past your basic principles (and colour vision). I’m in my third year of study, and we’ve basically ditched all of that stuff for more clinical aspects of Optometry such as treating and diagnosing vision problems, and ocular disease.

hi there! 💕thanks for the lovely message! i’m glad to hear you like my posts 😭😭💕i use rhodia grid a4 notepads! they’ve got a perforated bit at the top so you can tear the pages out neatly and use it as note paper. also i’m really happy you picked up on my copy of trk in that pic!!! i adore trc so much!! my favourite character is actual sweetheart ronan lynch. 😂 who’s yours?

21.3.17— happy tuesday! uni is kicking my ass already and we're only in week four... this is what my bujo looks like when i'm busy, apparently haha. doing daily to-do lists instead, and i'm finding it's working a bit better for me in terms of productivity. how has everyone been doing?

Hi! I'm starting college next year and I'm like, kinda really picky about pens. What are your favorite pens and why? For notes or drawing, either. I don't like gel (I always smudge it) and I don't want it to bleed at all. If this is totally bothering you I'm sorry I just don't know anyone who's picky like me so I figure I'd ask a studyblr with beautiful writing 😂

hi anon! first of all, thanks for the message! (and thankyou for the lovely compliment!)

second of all, you’re probably going to have a bad time… I use almost exclusively gel pens for my writing! 

i’m fairly picky when it comes to writing instruments too, but I found that muji products work really well for me, and they’re super cheap! my go-to pen is the muji 0.5 smooth writing gel pen, but it is gel as you mentioned :(. when i was studying for uni entrance exams, my go-to pens were jetstream 1.0 uniball pens, which worked fabulously for me– you could try those, but I can’t vouch for what they’re like now, b/c I bought a bunch a few years back and the ink seemed to be stuck in all of them?? there are a few other muji pens I use (such as the 0.7 ball pen), but none of them write as good as the aforementioned one for me :(

for drawing and for super fine lines, copic multiliners are the way to go. for calligraphy i use tombow brush pens, which i guess what everyone else uses because they’re at a decent price. 

as for bleeding and smudging- i find that the quality of the paper you use really matters, not so much the pens themselves. i only really get bleed if i’m using bad paper. (i’m really liking rhodia writing pads at the moment, and its super resistant towards bleed, so please check that out if its your thing!) 

hope this was at least… marginally useful LOL. if anyone has any other suggestions, please go ahead, i don’t really have much of a clue about non gel writing pens ;-;
