NK Future Classics ... UGH LOVE THIS EDITORIAL!
Celine Van Amstel by Txema Yeste for Marie Claire Italia April 2011 via Fashion Gone Rogue
I totally understand that this UBIQUITOUS pose is supposed to be come-hither in the most direct way possible, but all I can think of when I see it is that moment when you finally find a toilet at an outdoor festival or after a long car trip
Just in time! Fri-Sun wardrobe inspiration
I absolutely love urban decay eye makeup. I have one of their colour pallets and it is so wonderful. Every colour is truly bold and just amazing. The only problem I experience is with the sparkles in a few of the colours. No matter how hard I try they find their way into my eye brows and decide to stay there. I have yet to figure out a way to get them out. Any suggestions?
I answered this question on the new beauty blog here.
XO
Guys, after fielding a lot of questions here, and the success of the beauty posts on Holier than Now, and the fact that I've been in the beauty business for most of my adult life, and because I love the internet
I STARTED A SITE ABOUT CULT BEAUTY PRODUCTS.
It's brand new, so forgive the lack of content
It's hosted on tumblr so you can follow it on tumblr : )
Thanks
Does LaMer work?
YES, it's a great moisturizer. If you want to truly turn back the hands of time, see your derm though. But La Mer is a great product.
But if you don't like heavy moisturizers or if you have acne prone skin, the Oil Absorbing Lotion ... oh my god, the best product EVER. I wish I was rich.
I need a new face cream, and I'm at my wit's end about it. I was using Estee Lauder's Hydrationist, and it just made my skin filmy and even drier than before by the time I finished the bottle. I'm willing to spend up to $60ish buckaroos at a department store counter for something that will make my skin less dry and hey, maybe even a little glowing or dewy while we're at it, but I'm at a total loss for what to get. What would you suggest? (I rarely go in the sun, am way pale, and don't usually break out)
Philosophy Hope in a Jar, at night. Get the tiny jar and see how you like it - I think there is an even smaller one at Sephora in the stores. For day I'm really feeling Fresh Fresh Face Rose Primer, which is basically a lotion - that is, if you don't want a tinted moisturizer which I do think is great for summer as it adds a little color. If so then Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer is my favorite and it will def. make you glow (not in a fake tan way). XO my dear
Hey there!I have been trying to find a good under eye concealer for a while now but I can't find one that works for me and I'm tired of wasting money hunting for one. I read one of your articles in which you recommended Benefit Boi-ing Concealer but I keep reading negative reviews about it saying that it settles into fine lines quickly and doesn't stay put or last for very long. I'm thinking about trying Nars concealer. Have you tried this product? What do you think about it? Also, can you recommend a primer and brush for applying concealer/foundation?Thanks a ton!!
Hi, if you're really looking to COVER your whole undereye area (which is a bit much for me, I think a little natural color under the eyes even if it's dark looks totally fine) I recommend Bobbi Brown creamy concealer, set it with powder.
But I also think a product that provides sheer cover with a bit of light reflection works great and looks way more natural. YSL Touche Eclat is the classic.
I've never tried Nars.
My favorite primer right now is actually Fresh Fresh Face Primer in Rose, but I just noticed they have this cute trial kit with the glow primer in it too - which is a great way to test them out. It's only $10. I like this primer because it isn't like a silicon gross mess (I hate most primers) and isn't too-too mattifying which I find drying. It's a perfect balance.
I apply it with the Real Techniques foundation brush, which is also great for under eye because of the angled shape. Because of the Taklon hairs (synthetic and cruelty free), you can rinse the brush really quickly and it dries perfectly in shape. I rinse it every time I use it. For a few bucks more though you can get the whole collection of priming brushes that includes a pointed foundation brush and a detail brush, which is also good for under eye. I worked on this brand, can you tell? But it's amazing - trust.
I don't know if this is considered a beauty product.. in fact I doubt it, but I had moderate acne for a few years and was put on Tretinoin Cream (the generic version of Retin-A). I have been using it every night for the last probably 3-4 years and have heard that it is a wrinkle fighter along with being a blemish curer. Is this true? I'm 18 years old by the way.
Yes, that is true. It is something of a miracle product.
UPDATE - just wanted to add to this - you definitely should be using a sunscreen everyday if you are using this product religiously and given your age. It makes your skin more sensitive to the sun so you have to protect yourself because ultimately the sun is more damaging than the Retin A is anti-aging. Does that make sense? A daily moisturizer with SPF 30 ... like Neutrogena. Ask your dermatologist as she/he can give you samples of the one they like.
What is your favorite mineral powder/foundation? Apologies if you've already answered this.
Oh by far Bare Escentuals. It also comes in matte.
I really like their starter kits, if you've never tried them. I find that mineral foundation is a great base for other mineral makeups but maybe not so much for cream highlighters, cream concealers etc. So the kits are great because the products work so well together, and you get brushes. Especially if you have blemishes, the concealer and concealer brush are AMAZING!
Here's a set.
I know these are expensive, but ... they're my favorite!
What is a good, inexpensive product to reduce the size of pores?
Cheap options that work: Green tea. Drinking a lot of water.
"Investments" that work: Retinoids from a dermatologist ($75ish if you have health insurance) plus a glycolic wash (this is actually only $20 so maybe you can add that to the green tea and water).
Options that don't work: 99.9% of things for sale in stores that claim to reduce the size of pores.
I'm serious about the green tea and water!! And I love mineral powder foundation for reducing appearance of pores.
XO
Super sensitive skin, can you suggest a sunscreen?
Neutrogena Pure and Free baby
It's oil free, I like the formula a lot.
Update > @hba_events (the beauty tradeshow) tweeted that they love California Baby Sunscreen so check that out too!
