ㅤㅤㅤFrom  what  information  there  is  on  Yuugao  and  her  squad,  and  by  extension  on  his  newest  temporary  team  member  Kanna,  Itachi  decided  to  lean  towards  the  more  optimistic  side  of  things  and  believe  they  wouldn't  have  any  particular  problems  along  the  way.  They  still  lived  in  a  world  that  mostly  followed  the  shinobi  practice:  ego  and  pride  festered  and  ran  through  the  veins  of  the  said  system.  Even  –  or  rather,  especially  –  among  the  ANBU,  an  elite  team  that's  expected  to  be  organized  and  unite,  there  was  distrust  and  corruption. ㅤㅤㅤAnd  to  say  that  most  of  the  ANBU  were  waiting  for  the  day  of  Itachi's  demise  could  be  considered  a  kind  way  to  put  it. ㅤㅤㅤ"—  Uhm.“  He  mumbled  quietly,  mimicking  her  and  walking  to  his  locker  to  gather  everything  he  needed  for  the  assignment.  The  stained  silk  he'd  been  holding  until  now  finally  coming  out  from  the  back  of  his  mind,  as  did  the  recollection  of  his  previous  incident  before  he  tossed  it  and  reached  for  his  mask.  He  should  see  them  soon  after  this  mission.  "—  This  is  but  a  courtesy  of  the  Hokage.  The  person  we're  escorting  is  a  rich  farmer  and  provides  for  the  village  and  the  Capital.  He's  requested  security  during  the  trip,  and  the  Yondaime  couldn't  turn  it  down.”

a  rich  farmer.      kanna thinks about capitalism and politics now.  inherently anything and everything that the shinobi nations are.  these are systems of corruption and injustice and somehow kanna finds herself not minding that she’s being used as a product.  a  SERVICE  offered to people who wish to live to see another day.  perhaps this is what  detachment  does to people,  it renders them completely  IGNORANT  of whatever is happening around them that they   SHOULDN’T   have to ignore.  she thinks back again to the time where her very own mentor went back to the village covered in blood as a result of her detachment from reality after her partner’s death.  

          kanna then comes to the conclusion that maybe detached people are  SCARY.   and maybe,  just maybe,  she’s one of them too. 

          habitually,  kanna always does a double take of the straps on her anbu fatigues and the weapons all over her body.  she counts the amount of kunais and ensures that the naginata is secured safely on her back.  when all of that is done,  she turns to itachi again,  masked and with her blonde hair pulled up into a ponytail.        “   a yes...  the hokage just had to be  COURTEOUS.   “        she comments flatly,      “   how much escort missions do you think one would have to do in order to get promoted ?   “      kanna asks,  not quite overly curious but not quite dismissive of her question either.
