My opinion on the Warrior cats game they announced is that it looks like poorly made Unity Slop. I am not excited and I think the cats look ugly. 🫡

Edit- also I mean warriors does not really have a good track record when it comes to quality games... really its the fan made games that are good at actually emulating the books. I wish warriors would also just get a specific art style and stick to it. Why not make the game characters look like the new graphic novels and not a typical Unity style cat.

For such a huge comb he doesn't have purple edges, like I've seen on some birds. Good circulation?

Sometimes in cockerels a bit of purple is just hormones but if the comb is heavy, floppy, and/or starts to deflate at the ends that's a sign of circulation issues or that the comb is to big.

"If" im to keep a leghorn rooster I want one with an upright comb which eliminates all the cockerels except for Big Meat. The real tricky part with huge combs is preventing injury and frostbite in the winter. The floppy comb doesnt apply to the hens though a good leghorn hen has her cute flop like Greenie Weanie.

That is if I actually keep one long term, the one I ate yesterday was very tasty lol and Ibis x Leghorn chicks would be dominant white and Pumpkin....

I'm curious, what kind of traits do you personally look for in roosters when you decide if they're destined for the freezer or nah? (Sorry if this has already been asked)

Boys who are destined for the freezer are usually larger then average, rude to hens, sickly, loud, nervy, and they give "The Look" where if thought they could they would bite or spur the crap out of you first chance they get. When you handle them they scream and yell and flap and just make a much bigger fuss then needed.

Since hens look to cockerels and roosters for emotional and physical support. When you have a boy who is anxious around humans that can rub off on the hens and make them more fearful and stressed. If they are also rude on top of it, its just not worth it to keep them around since they will bring down flock morale.

Good boys who are potential keepers are easy to handle, healthy, nice to look at, and dont want to stab you with their foot knives the moment your back is turned.

Shout out to Big Meat here i was going to eat him but he decided to act really cute and sweet. I do like that he has an upright comb and my partner was like 🥺🥺🥺 about me eating him. Sigh i really need to get another run and coop, I do like him more then the labhorn boy i raised because he is more compact.

have any of your chicken’s ever gotten a botfly larvae? i just found one on one of our puppies and im kinda freaking out because i have no idea where if came from or how to safely rid of it.

Ew never thank goodness but this is a situation where you take them to the vet. They will usually prescribe an antiparasitic and an antibiotic. They clean the wound really well with something like chlorhexidine and usually there are no complications. You may even get to keep the fly if you ask 🤢
