In palworld i was wandering around this icey area catching pals.
Im pretty over leveled since I explore areas fully before moving on.
Anyway there is this blizzard going on this side of the mountain Im on so I ride my Ragnahawk (lol) down to the valley to look for any more pals to catch. I see this big frozen area in the valley and I find a big horse just snoozing on the ground. I thought it was like one of the deer things that were all over the island. So I throw a ball at it to be cheeky, not noticing the 0.01 catch rate.
Anyway big horse breaks out of the ball wakes up and is pisssssed at me and just proceeds to one shot my bird like it was nothing. I throw out my big fire lizard and he literally jumps in front of me to tank a huge wall of ice and he also gets one shot. At this point im like oh shit I gotta get out of here so I try to leave the area but the horse is fast as hell and just runs up to catch up to me while continuously shooting ice at me.
At this point I call out my Chillet and start taking extreme cold damage due to to no longer having a fire pal available (Chillet is also an ice element as well) and I dive off the mountain with my ferret to escape the evil ice horse.
New problem, cold damage and drowning. My Chillet uses stamina to swim and there is no places to rest on that side of the mountain. I go through trails and tribulations in that ocean before I remember I have an item that will teleport me back to my base so I use that to escape my failings.
Anyway dont pick fights with giant horses they will flatten you.
your chickens look silly. I love them.
They are silly :3
The potency of the vitamins in poultry feed will decrease starting the moment it's mixed. It's best to use it within 6 months of the manufacture date.

This fake hate mail was so funny I had to hold to it for a bit lol
Frolic! Jump around!!
One of the most shapes. Oreo isnt just fluffy she is my chunkiest girl as well.
Ah story related to her recently. There is a kid my landlady's family helps take care of sometimes. She is very young and when i told her Oreos name she went "Just like me! I Like Oreos :)" and it made me cringe internally a bit because its 2026 who is calling this 4 year old an oreo but anyway Oreo actually let her pick her up and cuddle her. I was pretty proud of Oreo for that because Oreo is one of my birds that doesnt really enjoy handling but she was willing to be snuggled by tiny human stranger. She was still giving me the side eye the entire time like "wow your making me go through this?" LOL
"No you shan't take pictures of my bald head" -Ruth
This was the only decent picture I got of her, she was not happy with a phone near her this morning.
Reba looks great just a bit sun bleached.
Sugar Plum looks like a piece of black licorice that fell into some couch cushions and grew hair mold. Like her mother she is also a favorite of the roosters so she has a perfectly circular bald spot. (Not pictured) she is also quite sun bleached.
I always mention these two together since they are a bonded pair. Its so sweet they have kept their friendship this whole time.
The chances of being murdered by a broody hen are low but not zero
My pretty girl ❤️ Im going to be bringing her in soon. She keeps losing weight despite a clean fecal. She isnt laying right now either so we think it might be because she is just getting old and is so active when she is outside. She is very attached to Ibis though so she is going to be very angry at me. She crows when she is separated from her current favorite rooster lol.
Cellphone and Terabyte whenever they are doing their sparring Souffle will walk by and they stand veryyy still because if Souffle thinks they are trying to fight with him he will bite them 😂 so he just walks through all nonchalant.
The brahmas are just playing and are chunky and fluffy but Souffle is a gamebird.
Oh baby fight
Its amazing how much they can grow in a few weeks :) Cellphone is still on the left and Terabyte on the right.
Very important to duel your brother every single day.
How do you get your chickens to like you? I love mine and raised them from chicks but they always run from me when I bring them food.
Routine, treats, training, and time. Chickens when growing up go through skittish phases due to their place in the pecking order and the new hormones they are experiencing. When a chicken becomes a "teenager" suddenly the world they have been living in peacefully becomes a lot more overstimulating and scary as their brains make the switch to the survival of adulthood.
Typically this starts happening to the birds around the time they are moved out of the brooder and into the coop which can worsen the skittish behavior. It doesn't help that we might also do behaviors that reinforce their aversion even if we don't mean to. Poeple tend to spend more time with their brooder chicks then their grow outs once they are moved outside despite the grow out period being one of the most critical times for a chickens mental development. Genetics and breed also play a huge role in how friendly a chicken will be at maturity sometimes you can do everything right and still end up with a skittish bird.
The best thing to do to tame your birds is to sit on the ground with high value treats in your lap and try to temp the birds closer and closer to you. You keep doing that (it may take minutes to days to weeks depending on how often you do it) until they are comfortable jumping in your lap for a treat. During this its important to not grab them or scare them since you want to be a safe space for them. Whenever they are confident enough to get on your lap, start encouraging them to jump to your arm or to do a spin for a treat. Tricks are a great way to build a bond with your birds and open avenues of communication between each other. Once birds are jumping in my lap and doing tricks I incorporate me picking them up and setting them down into the treat/training time. I usually start by picking up the bird, letting their feet dangle for a sec, then setting them down and giving them a treat immediately. I only do this with "volunteers" chickens who keep walking up to me while i do this basically. When i do have to pick up an unwilling participate for like a nail trim i still reward them afterwards so next time is easier. I actually dont have to do this stuff with my breeding flock since they are naturally very curious and friendly, I do handle them often but i dont have to shape their behavior like above because i have been selecting for friendly traits, but for hatchery birds like my current baby bantams I do go through these steps to make sure their brains see me as a positive whenever they go through those skittish phases.
SOS my daughter of a white columbian father and a mother that is either white columbian or silver pencilled has buff feathers 😭 I gave her to my parents for their flock because I didn't like her personality or vulture hocks anyway, and I don't see her often so the first couple of times I assumed she was just dirty but nope! She does in fact have dustings of buff.
It's kind of a cool look ngl but not something I want in my breeding project so I'm kinda glad she has other flaws. If only I knew who her mother was 😭
Thats very interesting! I wonder what genes are at play for her to display that gold coloration since hens can either be silver or gold they cant be carriers. Her coloration reminds me a little bit of a Salmon Faverolles, Im guessing she is SIlver + Mahogany but then that begs the question of where that Mahogany gene came from because it shouldnt show up in either of her potential parents. We would have to assume the silver pencilled is the mother her pattern gene could potentially hide some color that you wouldnt expect to be there. Two white columbian parents would likely just produce white columbian due to a lot of the genes making that color being quite dominant. However i would expect the white x penciled cross to produce chicks with way more pattern while this hen is actually quite sparsely marked compared to her flockmates.
