i have a question. I'm doing a Sburb DnD. But i have... Problems with the classes and god tiers. I mean: How can i introduce classes how Monk or Palladian AND at the same time, use classes and aspects how Sylph of Hope or Prince of Rage
what i had originally been planning to do was make them as their own custom classes, aka the Class portion of the classpect (Prince, Maid, etc) and then the aspect would affect the "elemental" or more... "powered" aspect of it? aka this is a homebrew homebrew where I am, deadset, doing everything from scratch, but tbh I haven't touched the project in a really long time, I'm probably going to scrap most of what I have so far and do a refresh, since I"m more actively participating and playing dnd than I was the like. three-ish years ago when i started this blog. or whenever i did!
Character Sheets and References
Hey everyone! I made a character sheet reference on google sheets (which you can use for your own campaign so long as you credit me!)
YOU CAN FIND IT HERE
However, I only have the character sheet up, as well as some information on the STATS so far, I’ll reblog this post whenever I make major updates!
STATUSES
Here’s the current Statuses I have so far!
PANIC
Your current level of panic, does not take actual stat points, and is a modifier but is placed here for ease of access
0 - you are completely calm, without panic
10 - You are currently going shithive maggots, and cannot do anything.
CRAZY
Your Currently level of being absolutely bonkers
0 - You're perfectly sane!
5 - You're going crazy, alright. (Take - 1 Sanity, and for each tier higher)
10 - You have lost your goddamn mind. Amazing. (Take -5 SANITY and COMMUNICATION)
ENRAGED
Being completely furious
0 - You're not mad at all!
5 - You're pretty hot! (-1 intelligence and communication per tier higher)
10 - YOU’RE FUCKING FURIOUS (-5 intelligence and communication)
GRIMDARK
The current level of going grimdark
0 - Happy as can be! What's a horrorterror?
5 - Everyone is starting to get a little concerned. (Take -1 Sanity per tier higher, as well as a -1 per tier communication)
10 - agjks'ds sljid fdjsi dfix'sseir (Take -5 Sanity and -10 on communication rolls)
MURDER MODE
The current state of wanting to murder your friends while going batshit insane. Semi-reliant on Crazy stat)
0 - You're fine! You like your friends and wouldn't kill them!
5 - Uhm, everyone is now uncomfortable. (Take -1 Sanity per tier higher)
8 - Ohhhh god oh god this is not going to end well. (-3 Sanity, -1 per tier BRAINS)
10 - OH GOD WHO LET YOU HAVE THAT KNIFE (-5 Sanity, -3 BRAINS)
TRICKSTER MODE
The mode of being Trickster. I’m afraid this one is all or nothing.
0 - You’re perfectly normal
10 - HAHAHA I’M HAVING SO MUCH FUN!!!! (-5 BRAINS, COMMUNICATION and SANITY, +10 ASPECT and +5 SWEET MOVES, SPIRIT and MANGRIT, as well as +20% HEALTH)
After coming out of Trickster Mode, take everyone back to normal, and -1 all stats except health and aspect
STATS
Here’s a list of stats, what they mean, and how they work!
Point Allocation
Total Points
91 Alternians and Post-Apocalypse Humans
81 Beforans and Pre-Apocalypse
Reasoning:
In DnD (I used to use Orcpub to do my character sheets) while using the point buy system, I noticed 8 was the base average before you incorporate the 27 points you can have to allocate
Using the 6 stats X the 8 points, you get 48
Take 48 + 27 and that’s 75
so if we take our 8 Stats X 8 Points that’s 64 + 27 = 91
To show the difference between the fighting levels of the average trolls/humans combo I took 10 off for those weaker.
HOWEVER don’t feel like this is a necessity, and play around with what you feel is best. The points allocated might be higher or lower than what I gave depending on what you feel is fitting for the character!
It’s YOUR session, feel free to play around with it!
THE STATS
I’m going to put this under a cut now, considering the length of all this.
HOW TO PLAY
Here’s a post on some easy ways to play this campaign, mechanics wise. Of course, you can run it like any old campaign, but I have a couple personal ways to make this fun and more like homestuck!
Places to Play
These are by no means the only ways to play, these are just my personal preferences!
MSPARP
A fun way to play this including text colors is MSPARP!
You can make group chats labeled for the characters involved (to simulate Private Messages, as well as group memos), as well as the DM to narrate small things.
You can also have group chats for commands, and such
The Pros to this are that it uses text color and quirks automatically, which is nicer than having to type it into discord,or just talking which doesn’t involve text colors at all. You can also simulate only the players and the DM knowing what is said between two characters.
The Cons are that the chats will pile up, and unless you make a page for yourself and others with links, it’ll become increasingly hard to keep track of them all.
Solutions to the cons: Make a google document, and copy+paste the urls of the chats onto it, or link via text to label it. Give the URLS to your players, and they can either get onto the chat or just refresh the log.
DISCORD
Another good way is to invite all of your players onto a discord server!
You can make roles for each player of their chat handle (including color so it changes their name to that color), their god tier, dream moon, species, etc!
You can make channels and adjust the settings so either only the two characters involved as well as DM can see and type into it, or that only the characters and DM can type, but everyone can see.
The Pros: You can make effective use of the channels to simulate players talking to each other in private, or group memos can be made by the DM when asked by a player (a new channel), and it’s all nice and neat! You can arrange the channels in preferred order, and the roles make it easy to click on a person and see what’s up with their character real quick.
Cons: channels can pile up, you can’t do quirk automatically and I’m pretty sure you can’t do jack about the text color. This means you have to manually input your quirk (which can be a PAIN for trolls depending on how bad the quirk is).
Solutions to the cons: nothing can be said for the channels, unless your players just pm each other, but that makes it so the DM can’t see the messages, which... isn’t ideal. The solution for quirking, however, is that you can get your quirks in order on msparp, and open up a group chat for yourself to type into, and then copy+paste the text into discord!
Fun ways to play
Keep your players quiet about each other
This works as a more homestuck feel, where characters are slowly revealed.
Players will have no idea about anyone elses character, making a more accurate session to happen (where nobody can decide how the factors play) and the only thing the DM says to other players is if certain things are taken (like if the player wants to be a Bard of Doom and someone else already has Bard, you can tell them bard is already taken)
If the players insist on having a specific class or aspect, however, you can always mediate between the two in asking if one is okay with a different one, or if the original player minds changing, or alternatively if neither do you can say “fuck it” and let both have them, or flip a coin to decide.
In my current session, we have no shared classpects, but we have no space player, and all of the players are on one moon. Unwinnable, but allows for a fun storytelling opportunity for the DM to plan out how to make a fucked session winnable, either through NPCs or through the party breaking the game.
That’s all for now, but I may edit this later or add on in addition, etc
What is this?
Hey there!
This is a blog I made for mainly my own personal use but maybe someone else can use it too!
You can check out some of the more fleshed out story under the cut but basically tl;dr: I’m making a homestuck-based homebrew campaign and this blog will have a bunch of stuff as I make it
