it’s disability pride month, so I wanna talk about the disability that I have :)

i have os trigonum, we’re basically I have extra bone marrow in my ankle, and as I’m getting older, it’s starting to harden into a bone

I have these in both of my ankles, which makes walking hard on some days – it’s very flexible whether it hurts or not, and I got it genetically from my mother, who was a mutation. She only had it in her left ankle, and mine showed up in my right first before my left started hurting as well.

I’ve been to a podiatrist a couple of times, but all they’ve really ever done for me is give me inserts for my shoes, since my mother won’t approve the surgery. I tend to walk on the flats of my feet because it makes it hurt a little bit less.

My disability is invisible. Most people give me weird looks when I walk out of the disabled restroom stall. Some days, I feel perfectly fine. Other times, I can’t walk without assistance. Disabilities come in all different shapes and sizes, and I would like to wish everyone a happy disability pride month :)
