hawks is a socially depraved and hyper-independent guy he's so used to pretending to be fine with whatever he has to deal with, so when he starts fucking with dabi he just goes along with dabi wants to do he doesn't feel the need to voice his needs or discomforts

but the thing is there is no point in being a martyr with people who love you and you will ultimately affect people you like / esp your intimate partner with your "selfless" behavior like surprise people care abuot you and your own mistreatment puts them an awkward & unfair position,

again there is no point in trying to minimize yourself in a relationship and i think hawks would have to unpack a lot about his lack of self-worth when he fuck with dabi like let's try to keep it safe sane and consensual you need to speak up hawks

i love how often hawks is depicted covering his mouth (usually with exaggerated gestures), he's a grooming victim, he's constantly reading the room he knows when he's expected to shut his mouth and suck it up

(this is where it becomes about yaoi) i also don't believe that hawks can separate his work life from his personal life (if he has one) like we know he has no friends no peers & in my fujoshi palace he also isn't experienced with romantic partners, so i don't think it's too far-fatched to say he'd navigate partnership the way he navigates work, he just does what is expected of him he minimizes himself as a person even in his own relationship
