I’ve been thinking of a phantom thief versus detective theme recently and I really got into the idea of it
so I drew L->R
“Lupin” a local bookshop owner and nation-wide thief whose practically blind without glasses / contacts
“Joker/Watson”, a young woman who failed to get into medical school and has to make a choice on what she does with her future, she usually wears a scarf.
“Akechi” a detective who mainly deals with gruesome murders, losing one of his eyes in the process, on the hunt for “1000 Faces” who he blames for the crime
I have two more members of the cast and a bunch of sub characters I didn’t get to draw (including “1000 faces” and “Sherlock”)
Mainly spent most of my time working on Akechi since I actually knew what I wanted him to look like LMFAO he’s my only set character look-wise and usually a very pissed off man with a hoard of police that follow behind him. He just looks pitiful here, though, which I think is part of his appeal.
All designs pretty much inspired by stuff i’ve been into recently (but i’ll never tell) and wanted to draw. Backstory is a mess of three different ideas i’ve had but didn’t sound good till I put them together into one giant mess of a plot

Backstory under the cut. Tempted to draw more of this someday. Designs are fairly temporary for right now and I wanted to change the cut of the dress, but the basic idea I had is there.
Basically all three of the people pictured we’re on rival sports teams during their Final Year of High School; they interacted and met strictly at matches / joint training camps (girl was the manager for her team; although she used to play in the past- the reason she stopped takes place before all this so I won’t cover it, ANYWAY--)
(Girl’s tentative Name is “Tooru”; her nickname is Rui. She’s a bit of a hot-blooded individual and a little dramatic; but notably unsociable due to omitted reasons.)
Girl and Blonde (Top Left) happen to know each other from before high school; their Father’s both work high-end business jobs. They really don’t talk about the night they met, but the two of them grew to hate each other solely because of that constant updates of each other’s lives from their parents. (Once again omitting the reason) Enter last year of high school and an accidental meeting and you have two brats about to start a fight in the middle of a hallway. They eventually come to realize they had both been mutually suffering, and find each other likable enough to be friendly rivals.
(Notes: Blonde prefers to wear a certain brand of frameless glasses. He also has a younger brother. He has a smooth-sounding voice and enjoys teasing people. He has an interest in phone games and idols, which he shares with Tooru.)
Girl and Brunette (Bottom Left) met in a similar way; their teams happen to be notoriously rival schools, and Brunette was nominated to go over and announce the declaration of challenge as a new entree into the Main members of the club. His surprisingly good looks and trespassing had him the talk of the school (and annoyance to the campus patrol) and he was saved by the Girl, who ended up being fast friends with him. (Their relationship has more depth after this point, but once again, omitted) The two end up being texting buddies and go out together often, usually while hiding from the crowds who know him through his notoriety in the sports-scene and looks).
(Notes: Brunette is the team’s poster child Ace and a year younger than the other two. Upbeat attitude and personality, he’s usually the one to drag Tooru out to do things. He ends up taking the various jobs offered to him because he needs the money.)
A year passes after the end of their high school rivalry and the Brunette suddenly loses all contact with the Girl that he had become so used to talking with after she says she’s gone off to college and he remains for his final year. When they meet again, outside of a convenience store, she doesn’t recognize him and the Blonde comes to pick her up, being oddly protective and stating he’s the one taking care of her.
The story begins with the girl having no memories of her last year of high school, forgetting both of their existences and former relationships completely. Abandoning her past and reorganizing her priorities, her feelings towards these two have changed- and she wonders if the way they treat her now is the way things are really meant to be.
Designs featured here are from that later point, not their high school days.
Sketching while trying out Krita! I like it better than Sai already, although all i’ve really done is test out the base brush and eraser on the tool wheel.
I’m working on some other stuff too.
This is, ah, my “Older Sister” type character... from a thing... She’s very fashionable but works at a ramen shop as a waitress and delivery girl. I remember that a specific character trait for her was that she was “really lucky; but gets lost easily”- it’s probably the only reason she can keep her job LOL
The earliest project of mine was a collab with a very good friend and then we accidentally turned it into a BL but anyway it was called 6 Steps to Love and it was about a photojournalist named Ringo
I want to bring it back sometime, so i’m writing a script, but this is the updated cast in rough sketch since that’s the only brush I have right now.
