Hyde Park was a far cry from the vast, sprawling wilderness Alfred Debling was used to, but it was one of the largest green spaces in the city, and he found that it had been calling to him. So he set out that morning with his binoculars to see what small wonders he could find, for even urban settings had surprises to offer.
Movement near the ground caught the corner of his eye, and his binoculars flew to his face. Quickly turning the focus knob, he honed in on a small brown bird that was hopping along the scrubby reeds near the shore of the Serpentine lake.
Excited, Alfred made his way closer, but suddenly realized that he was standing nearly right in front of an occupied park bench, and he remembered that this was a popular park and people might not take kindly to a man walking around with binoculars.
"I'm sorry," he said to the person on the bench, "but you might want to know there's a reed warbler just behind you there!" He pointed toward the lake.
Francesca had found herself with a book at Hyde Park on one of her free days. It was quiet and for the most part, she was always undisturbed while she was there.
She had just turned over the page to begin a new chapter when she heard the voice of male speak. She looked up from her book with a smile, turning her head to follow where he pointed as he did. "A reed warbler," she repeated, squinting her eyes slightly to get a view of the bird. "I'm sorry but I'm not too versed on birds. I only know the very basic names. Is this an uncommon bird?" she asked, turning back to the other.
Kate smiled as Francesca interacted with Newton. It seemed that the young woman was very friendly and sweet with animals, which made the brunette smile. Newton seemed to relax and wag his tail, offering a new friendly bark this time. "Oh, I am the luckiest woman, indeed." She chuckled as she looked at her dog. "He's my best friend, I wouldn't know what to do without him." She smiled as the woman introduced herself. "It is lovely to meet you, Francesca. I am Kate. Kate Sharma." She offered her a kind smile before asking: "What brings you here in this fine afternoon? I was just enjoying a free day from training and decided to bring Newton here."
Francesca smiled between the woman and the dog. "Would you believe that I've gotten this far in life without ever experiencing having a pet?" she shook her head with a chuckle before listening to the other introduce herself. "Kate Sharma, that's a beautiful name. It's quite lovely to meet you as well." At Kate's question, Francesca looked around the park, "I've finished up my classes at Uni for the day. Normally I would just head home but a bit of fresh air sounded amazing. Training? What do you train for, if you don't mind me asking?"

“want one?” she asked holding up a take-out box of pastries. “i got talked into buying a dozen for some deal they were doing, and i seriously can’t eat any more of them.” one look into the box would show that a quarter of the dozen were already gone, and eloise was a bit of a pastry snob. she couldn’t handle eating leftover, semi-stale bakery items the next day. “i simply cannot eat all of them myself,” she added, a small smile on her face.
francesca shook her head lightly at her sister's words. "so tell me, how good of a deal was it for you to get sucked into buying these?" she asked as she held her hand out for a pastry. "of course, i'll take one. though, i'm sure if you would have went to one of the boys first, they'd take all that's left and not just one."

Sometimes John longed for a life of anonymity. He would be quite content to spend his time alone with his musical instruments - he didn't need any of the notoriety that came with composing or performing. He wasn't entirely sure he had found himself in a position of such renown. He certainly hadn't intentionally sought it out.
Which is why John could often be found at small venues, somewhere without a crowd but with a piano. This evening it was a lounge in quiet Hampstead. His hands moved in a flurry across the keys, creating an ambient melody behind the mellow voices of patrons chatting. He liked the feeling that his playing wasn't the centre of anyone's attention, and yet he was contributing some subconscious joy to their evening. He could let himself truly feel the music. He struck the final key and then sat back from the piano, smiling to himself. The world around him came back into focus and he lifted his gaze from the piano. He felt his pulse quicken when he immediately met the eyes of someone who had clearly been watching his performance. With an awkward air, he lifted himself from the piano bench and gave a quick bow before taking a slow sidestep toward the bar.
It wasn't very often that Francesca found herself out at any time of hour after the sun had went down. But occasionally, when the need arose for her to be around other humans without the obligation to interact with them, she would find herself in some of the quieter nightlife options.
Tonight, she had found herself enjoying a Shirley Temple in a lounge. There were only few people in attendance and they all were keeping to themselves. It was just as Francesca liked it. Maybe even more so as the sound of her favorite instrument had been filling the lounge. It wasn't long until the performer had finished and had seemed to be headed towards the bar.
She smiled as he approached, leaning sideways to lay a hand in front of the bar nearest to him. "I'm sure that you get told this quite often but, that was absolutely lovely." She nodded her head, as she returned to sitting up properly and taking a sip through the small straw of her drink.
The park had been the perfect place for inspiration to strike. She hadn't worked in her sketchbook in a while, the businesses of the job leaving it gathering dust. On her day off, she decided to work on them on her picnic blanket. She much preferred sketching her designs in the warm air than sitting behind her desk at home. As she put down her pencil to take a break from her work, she glanced around the park, noticing a woman chasing papers that have floated with the wind. Getting to her feet, Edwina helped to gather some of them, not thinking twice, before she approached the woman with a few of the pages. "I'm assuming these are yours?"
francesca had managed to grab majority of the pages when she was approached by another. she smiled gratefully as she nodded her head. "they are. thank you so much for grabbing them," she thanked the other, hand placed gently over her chest as a way to show just how grateful she was. "you would think that i might have thought a bit harder to not have left loose papers unattended outdoors. even for a second."
kate breathed out of relief to see that the young woman wasn't offended, panicking or making a fuss about her dog. it often happened that she would find herself apologizing to people for having newton bark at them. the dog wasn't aggressive, simply protective over her. "thank you for being understanding." kate smiled as she closed her book and looked down at newton who sniffed the girl's hand. "his name is newton. he's never leaving my side." she chuckled as she loved having is company. being a single girl, with only her family and rarely friends made her more attached to her own dog. "he doesn't bite, i promise. you can caress his head if you wish." she said, knowing that newton would be happy to be pet.
"oh, of course." francesca smiled as she waved her hand as to say it was no issue, "a little barking has never hurt anyone." she allowed the dog to sniff her hand and when given the okay to caress his head, she gave him a gentle pet. "you seem like the best dog, sir newton. anyone to share life with you would be lucky, i'm sure." she gave him one last head scratch before standing back up and addressing the dog's owner. "i suppose i could introduce myself, seeing as we are already speaking. i'm francesca."

francesca had a free day from classes in which she chose to go to the local music store and buy new sheet music to practice with. she hadn't been 10 minutes out of the shop when she decided to have a few moments alone at the park to take in the fresh air. finding a bench that she deemed far enough away from any other person, she sat. closing her eyes and leaning her head back to take in the moment, she placed her stack of newly purchased items next to her. she sat like that for a few moments before she felt kick up into a small gust - not large enough to consider the day overly windy but enough to move things around. instinctually , her hand reached for the pile but it wasn't in enough time. loose papers began to fly away for her and the young woman rushed to chase after it, pushing through small groups of people as she did so. "i apologize! sorry! i just have to get to this."

observing the park full of young people enjoying a sunny afternoon, made kate's heart fill with warmth. summer was finally here, warm temperatures helping nature grow and look breathtaking. it was one of her most favorite seasons. the young woman sat on a bench and opened a book, ready to have a moment for herself accompanied by her corgi, newton. it was only one minute after she read the first page of her book that she heard her loyal dog bark, making her look up and find who her dog was barking at. "oh pardon me, he tends to be quite protective over me." she chuckled and added: "he though is a sweetheart."
walking through the park after a day full of classes was one of francesca's favorite things to do. the fresh air and quiet that nature provided seemed to reset the young woman after a day full of moving from class to class and interacting with her peers. typically her walks through the park were uneventful but on this day, there was a barking of a dog that she had realized was at her. smiling at the woman who seemed to own the dog, francesca shook her head. "oh, it really is no problem. he looks to be quite the protector." she then transferred her smile from the other down to the dog before crouching down and gently holding her hand out for the pup to sniff her.
