Hi there, I am monochromia or mono. You can find me under that tag on ao3 if you have an account. Please do not share any of these posts or my works with the actual pro players. If you know me by other igns please do not address me by them here unless it’s in dms. Other then that, lets have a good time. Feel free to drop me asks or dms for my headcanons or to just mutually scream over these dumb esport boys. 

I have a massive soft spot for Splyce/Mad and anyone adjacent to them (this includes people who previously worked with them in erls) but I’m pretty happy to chat about most players. I’ve also been learning more about the LCK and LPL players lately and I’m excited to start writing them too.

My boyfriend has really vivid, elaborate dreams. He’ll often wake up and talk about some grand narrative- travel, exploration, politics, performances. I’ve always been a little jealous, he can hold really good plots together for them sometimes.

But anyway, this does have a downside; vivid, elaborate dreams make for vivid, elaborate nightmares. I can usually tell when it’s one of those nights, since he grinds his teeth pretty badly.

I was never quite sure what to do when I knew he was having a bad time of it, though the grinding alone was enough to worry me and push me towards intervening. I used to just shake him gently, hope to rouse him just enough to reset the dream or something, but it wasn’t too effective and anyway waking him up all the time isn’t good for rest.

I’m rather proud of the strategy I eventually settled on: gently, so as not to wake him up, I’d lay one arm across his hands, wrapping his fingers around me so that he was holding on. Nightmares being nightmares, I can usually count on a pretty tight grip when this happens.

It may seem a little odd, but consider that holding on to something with both hands is typically a very agentic frame of mind. We hold on to things that give us power, in one way or another, and possessing objects often makes us feel powerful in some respects. That has consequences, even for a dreaming mind.

I knew it was working when he woke up rather mystified from one such dream, and told me that he’d been running through the caverns of some dungeon or cave system, pursued by monsters, but then all of a sudden he was holding a giant anime sword and fought them off instead. So I got to be a sword for him that night, I was delighted.

I don’t usually get to know exactly what happened, since even for a very vivid dreamer like Ritter, nine tenths of these things get forgotten. But I know I’ve been things like door handles, steering wheels, stuff like that. And even when I don’t know what I am to him, he doesn’t grind his teeth nearly as much- the sleep is deeper and more peaceful, so I get plenty of feedback that it’s working.

It’s such a perfect encapsulation of love in microcosm, isn’t it? No matter how much you mean to them, and how much they mean to you, the gap between two conscious lives is fundamentally separating you. But fundamental does not mean insurmountable. There’s this whole world in him, full of dreams and perspectives that I’ll never truly experience. But I will be a part of those worlds all the same, finding little ways here and there to make sure that the dreams of me make him a better, stronger, and happier person.

Or at least, so one hopes. It’s a difficult challenge, and things often go awry. But usually you get at least a little lucky.

Kiinhends Explanation/Blurb/Insanity Spiral

aka these two are driving me nuts and I have at least 5 wips of them so I need to write this out or else I will actually lose what braincells I have left. This is sorta historical but it goes off that rail really quickly into headcanon territory so be warned: this is largely opinion/my perspective/a bit of how I write them.

*ahem* okay so lets start:

Kiin and Lehends are currently the toplaner and support for GenG respectively. They've been on the same team from 3 non-consecutive years (2021, 2023, 2024).

Lehends has an embarrassing, horrendous crush on Kiin and responds to this with gratuitous amounts of pigtail pulling and marriage proposals.

He's down bad. So why is Kiin so vehemently against reciprocating and rejects his advances?

Well. Lehends has a lot of exes that he definitely is not over. Namely, Ruler who shared a team with him in 2022. So he left Kiin's team for Ruler/GenG at the time. Furthermore, Lehends stated his reason for returning to GenG is that (and I'm using google translate to help me here):

I won my first championship with a team called Geng. I had good memories and I thought the ending was disappointing. I have good memories of two hearts coexisting. I think I came here to try to do well again because I had some regrets.

So, yeah not over Ruler, especially with Ruler staying in China and insisting on staying with Missing (who takes good care of him in turn, they're very sweet). Lehends is still close to Teddy as well (another good friend/ex). His relationship with his other adcs (Viper and Aiming) is less ride or die, but is still very much present(Viper still has Lehend's photocard). He also flirts with Deft and Faker (and barked for him) at any given opportunity, even though both of them have iced him out.

So, it is reasonable for Kiin to see Lehends advances as trying to rebound, spite his exes, distract himself, fill the void, or even just a twisted sense of teasing to garner a reaction. Lehends loves to tease and get under people's skin even if he's not interested in them (see Chovy). He's loud, flighty and not very empathic.

The moment that stood out to me the most was his reaction to seeing Kiin cry at winning his first title was to laugh because Kiin had said earlier he wouldn't cry but ended up doing so after an exhausting Bo5. Kiin was also sick that day, using an IV backstage to help him rehydrate and be in as good a condition as he could be. This title meant everything to Kiin who has hit every other place in the LCK over the last 6 years except first until now. And Lehends just... laughed at his relief and happiness.

Kiin is a naturally reticent person with thick skin so he can handle a lot of teasing. Still, he gets exhausted by hanging out for long and more comfortable on his phone checking stocks or browsing videos. Even when Lehends (and Peyz) crashed his room at 4am and started screaming and jumping around, he just curled up in a corner and let them do their thing until they got bored. Sometimes he fights Lehends and they yell at each other across the room but a lot of times, he just takes it. His coach even remarks that he's "4v1" in the team because the rest of them also realized they can get away with it with Kiin. So, most of the time he doesn't mind but he is also insistent on keeping distance and keeping things more buisnesslike.

Granted, he doesn't feel this way all the time as he's the first often to initiate ARAMs or other team games, but he is still careful to keep emotional distance. He is rarely vulnerable around others and guards that side of himself.

So. They're stuck. Lehends wanting to gain Kiin's affection, but not recognizing that Kiin's distance isn't just tsundere posturing. Kiin afraid to open up to him because he's been burned in the past and or doesn't believe Lehends' sincerity. Something has to give but it hasn't yet. Chovy's tried matchmaking them a couple times to little effect and frankly, short of a meltdown from one of them, I don't think anything will change.

this is why basically all of my wips involve a meltdown because there's no other way these fucking stubborn bitches will make a move.

A Thousand Birds(hidden pair): It begins with a Princess cursed to spend all of time in a Tower, their castle grounds becoming an earthly paradise hard to find. It ends without ending, on the wings of a thousand birds and songs.

Love is Giving(Gumayusi/Keria, background Faker/Deft): Learning to give oneself away is an art Min-hyeong has perfected. His grifter, his love, his star, is not someone who can love him back, no matter how much he wants to, so he lets Min-seok take whatever he can. Hyuk-kyu holds his cards close to his chest and his loved ones even closer. For Min-seok, he'll use any hand to get him the happy ending he deserves, even if it means involving Sang-hyeok. As for Sang-hyeok, working with Hyuk-kyu is the last thing he expected but following him to the end is surprisingly easy.

Which Fire Will Make You Warm(Kobbe/Tore): Tore and Kasper are bonded but that doesn't mean they're together.

Mine(Vizicsacsi/Xerxe): By chance, commoner Tamas meets princess Andrei and from there, it becomes a dance defined by one thing: Tamas will always be Andrei's.

Who is Chasing Whom(Upset/Tore): Elias and Tore are each other's first taste of success, a pair of stars that once circled each other until veering off so far, leaving naught but ash.

Is It Me(Hatrixx/Tore): Tore is used to being teased. To be the butt of the joke. After enough time, he's learned to smile the pain away, but it's different when it's from Hatrixx. For Hatrixx, he would do anything to be what he wants.

In an agency of spies, there's a gentle (and nerdy) romance brewing on the hacking team. The rest of the agency naturally, gets involved.

Jump(To Dance With Me)(Selfmade/Crownshot): Oskar likes to dance and push. Juš prefers to sit, but Oskar has a way of pulling him in.

Hamster in a Snake's Nest(Kobbe/Jeonghoon): Inspired by hexburn's Animal Hybrids AU format. King Cobra Kobbe and Hamster Jeonghoon are mates. To everyone else, this is an oddity. To them, each step only makes loving each other easier

FFF(Fox and Foquita Flirtation)(Razork/Jun): The moment Iván saw Se-jun he knew he had to court him. Se-jun for his part, is amused enough to reciprocate to see how it goes.
