I couldn’t think of a better person to award the first gold medal. Because this is the person I see everyday. This is the person lets me keep my cereal bowls in the sink when I just don’t feel like washing them. This is Whitney.
Whitney is just as radiant as when I first met her about eight years ago. To me, she was “the nice girl” on my ragtag softball team in my childhood. And I secretly always looked up to her. Later on, I came to know her all through high school and college. Now she’s my roommate. Let me tell you, hands down: It is truly a blessing to be in someone’s life that long. Not to mention being able to watch them grow so admirably like this ribbon-wearing girl has.
Whitney is fiercely protective of the precious hearts around her. Exceedingly thoughtful — as she proceeds to leave little illustrated notes by my bedroom doorstep after a bad day. Whitney has an admirable thirst for life; she has a bucket list and she is seriously crushing it. This girl literally chases her dreams down. And she is always looking to connect. Whitney wastes no time when it comes to engaging and taking care of the people around her. Oh, and she’ll find the best damn deal at Value Village and look like she came right out of a Pinterest app.
That being said, first medal goes to you, Whit.
