I'm thinking about writing more seriously. I'm saying this on here because it's embarrassing to me to make such a proclamation but...here I am. Also it's taking all of my willpower to not end on a joke. Trying to take myself and not put air quotes around the word art in speech or in writing is seriously is the hardest thing I've ever done!

the concept of beauty is irredeemable. it will never, in any incarnation, be exalting and the pseudo-reclamation surrounding the idea will never be moving or true. the false equivalency made to character and physical presentation maintains a grossly inadequate regard for the deliberate, active work that goodness requires. beauty is static, instantaneous, and inherent. goodness is none of those things.

i don’t care about beauty. externalized manifestations of good do not exist. to grant the only magic in this world to a concept so unexalting as beauty is to commit such an act of disservice to magic and to reduce it to something base and crass and worldly.
