In Akihabara, behind the Akihabara Washington Hotel there is a river, and across that river is this temple for Tanuki. We happened to be there at a special time of year, where the cherry blossoms were all falling into the river enough to make these huge pink and white swirls in the water.
Just a bit of architecture for the town of Nanyo.

Alexis representing the imagiBROS at Comiket! The printers delivered Alexis' art books right to her booth, leaving her dreaming of such elegant service at every con thereafter. Selling comics and art books there was a little scary, but it was amazing getting to talk to table neighbors and trading American candy for tai senbai.
(That last photo is not ours, but we needed to share an image of those sweet, sweet crackers.)

The map said that there would be a “moe sake” section. “Cute anime liquor?” I assumed that I couldn’t be translating that right.
I was gloriously wrong.
Trapped at Comiket? They lured us into the carnival section with free food. But as we soon learned, you are not allowed to leave the carnival section with food. Japan is a very polite land, but we were amidst the otaku. Comic conventions anywhere have the same air of brotherhood and good will. And that includes pranks.

The Dormy Inn in Soga may be the best hotel we’ve ever been to. Great meals, free ramen every night, and plenty of cabinet space.
