non-aromantics getting access to the phrase “aros can date too!” is so tragic. because now they just repeat that to every aromantic (regardless of where they fall on the spectrum) to “reassure” us that we’re not “broken”, or to justify making unwanted romantic advances.

non-aros really struggle with the idea that there are some people who just. Don’t Want To Engage With Romance Ever. and that, with enough time and patience, they can somehow make us “return” to being alloromantic (despite, for a lot of us, there is nothing to “return” to; they just assume that romance is an innate part of living), or “correct” us in one way or another.

I think too often people forget that “they” is as much a pronoun as any of the others, and it isn’t as neutral as you want it to be.

I accept it as a useful default (and I use it that way myself), but once a person has told you their preferences, you GOTTA stop using they/them if it’s not on the list. please. this isn’t me trying to make anyone feel bad but it’s at a point where I’m misgendered more in “inclusive” spaces than literally anywhere else

I see a lot of posts telling trans men to leave their cishet boyfriend if he doesn't want you to take testosterone or transition. and yes, do it. leave him. staying with him will only fuck you up.

but we cant forget that if your lesbian/sapphic girlfriend doesn't want you taking testosterone or transitioning, you gotta leave her too. it doesnt matter that she's queer as well, she will be just as harmful to you in your journey as a trans man. women, even queer women, arent immune to being transphobic or anti-transmasculine

You look at almost any other species of mammal and they give each other physical affection all the time, but for some reason we've decided that physical affection when you're an adult should be exclusively romantic and to want frequent physical affection from your friends or family is strange or sus or a sign you actually view them romantically, and this can't be good for us I don't think.
