You were treated cruelly, spat on by the people that were supposed to love you. They looked at you with disgust, or maybe they didn’t even look at you at all. They turned a blind eye, neglected you.
But in the end, you still chose to be kind. You open the door for the old woman with a cane, no matter how long it takes her to get to the door. You smile at the stranger across the street. You tip the waitress, knowing she’s probably having a rough night. You see the quiet kid getting pushed around, and you stand up for them, grabbing their hand and telling them “you’re not alone.”
Don’t become what you hate. Show them that you’re better than them, better than the horrible things they’ve said to you, done to you.
Keep smiling, keep being kind, and keep spreading love.
