Mr. Bungleās California. One of my favorite albums of all time. And when I played it for my future wife, explaining that it is in fact an approximation of my internal brain workings, she did not run.
She is truly the best.
Do any of you also find yourselves within āMr. Bungle Californiaā syndrome?
Posting the first song on the album, but you should really listen to the whole thing
IT IS SO FUCKING GOOD
I'm not well, so I wrote a poem to submit for your disapproval
Soup Time Please, by AEM
The stickers in my day planner make me want to die
"Bills. Hustle. Due Date. Savings. Debt. No Spend. Payday. Credit Card. Insurance."
They printed these phrases on stickers.
Brightly colored.
I was a teacher of young children
And of course a child myself.
What stickers mean is something innocent
And beautiful and silly.
They are a reward for doing a great job on your book report
Being a good friend in PE class
Fun decorations you get to add to your journal, computer, instrument case.
I worry. That some of the most simple and sacred things are lost from our current thoughts.
I worry. That our capitalist hustle culture is destroying critical aspects of childhood, of joy, of simple humanity. Of being.
I put a sticker on my purse today.
It's a giant fly at the dinner table.
It says, "Please leave me alone, I am eating soup."

This is my 2nd favorite vhs as an 80s child (1st was Fraggle Rock). I carried these tapes around with me like Linus with his blanket.
Found the tape whilst packing up for a cross-country moveā¦in unison with my wife sending me this clipā¦.š¤ļ漚¤š§¹šāā¬

How do I know Iāll never end up in a rom com situation?
Easy. I donāt lie.
Adolescent story that sure does need help please
When I was 13ā¦
A really cool, pretty rich girl from NJ moved to my small Alabama town and I was so stoked that she chose me to come to one of her first sleepover parties.Ā
We played Hide and Seek. I was hiding in the fancy formal dining room of their giant mansion, which happened to be adjacent to the kitchen. While hiding, I heard the other girls at the sleepover giggling and saying some things I didnāt quite understand, like, āoh wowā¦funnyā¦embarassing..haha!ā I heard them opening and closing the freezer door and using the sink. In retrospect, it was NOT discreet.Ā
Anyway, next round of Hide and Seek when I was IT, I peeked in the freezer and found that theyād soaked and frozen my underwear and bra.Ā
So, I pulled them out and exchanged them for the other girlsā undies.Ā
Later, we all went to bed with them thinking they really pulled one over on me.Ā
In the morning at breakfast, they all kept trying to get me to open the freezer.Ā
āAlice, do you want some ice for your orange juice?ā
āNope, Iām good. I like my juice hot.ā
āAlice, can you grab me a glass of water?ā
āSure, here you go!ā
āOh, no, I wanted ice!ā
āCool, got it!ā [Sound of ice dispensing from external source fancy fridge.]
It was SO funny to watch them think they were being clever. I never blew my cover.Ā
Finally, they came up with a story about wanting to make koolaid ice cubes. So we did. And when they opened the freezer, I simply put the two ice trays of koolaid in calmly without acknowledging the pile of frozen undies.Ā
They literally had to say, āOh, Alice! Whatās that weird pile? Can you grab that?ā
So I did, and handed it to them.Ā
They did not realize what was happening at first, but they started to look suspicious at how wide my smile was growingā¦.(What can I say? I was 13!)
Once they did finally realize, they were SO angry. I mean, so so SO angry.Ā
I called them hypocrites, which was a word I had just learned in my English class. I asked why they were so mad at me when I had done their exact same prank but even better!
āBecause ours are all Victoriaās Secret and yours are from Walmart!āĀ
I said, āI know, thatās why mine is so much funnier!ā
So then I called my mom to come get me early.Ā
On the way home she asked me what happened and I told her.Ā
She laughed so hard we had to pull the car over--she just couldnāt stop laughing.Ā
I said, āUm, do I need to drive us home?ā
And she said, āIām trying to STOP laughing, Alice.ā
After another few moments, we drove on home.Ā
How to Illustrate?
Hello, Tumblr. I am still relatively new here but I am loving it. One thing I have seen is people helping each other with their creative endeavors. So I guess Iām asking for that?
Many years ago when Allie Brosh released her book, my strange loner sci-fi-loving small-town Alabamian mother sent it to me in the mail, not realizing Iād already been following Allieās webcomic since always. She said, āThis sounds just like you! You should do this!ā
So many props to my mom for that, but also----how the hell do you do it when someone else already has?Ā
In the past I drew some comics relating my experiences (before Iād found Hyperbole and a Half, I promiseā¦thatās actually how I was introduced to it, by an ex-girlfriend who was like, āWhoa, this is you. That thing youāre doing with the comic drawing, plus the experiences, especially with the dogs and the cakes.ā Btw she ended up being really flippant and cheating on me so thatās long over and doneā¦).
So what Iām asking you, Tumblr, is how should I illustrate these silly stupid little stories without seeming to be a copycat? All I really want to do is share them because I think theyāre funny and somewhat interestingā¦
I think I will go ahead and post one in a few minutes. Perhaps then someone will see it and have a stroke of genius about how I should illustrate it?Ā

Hamster Escapes the Most Dangerous Prison Maze š¹
While this seems cute I'm pretty sure it's stressful to the hamster
Does anyone know more about this?
The hamster does not watch movies, and therefore is unaware that the cardboard and plastic props in his obstacle course are references to well-known cinematic deathtraps.
sex isn't sexy unless it's a little bit gross. have you forgotten that you are a divine ape? plastic smooth skin, plucked hair, painted faces, scripted reactions, scrubbed til only the smell of perfumed soap remains, proportions that are conflictingly cookiecutter yet unattainable, none of this is even a little bit interesting.
you can laugh at napoleon's "home in three days, don't bathe" letter to his wife, but there's more sexuality in that one line then there is in the entirety of the hypersexualized but painfully unsexy internet.
