How would you describe Skylanders to someone that doesn't know anything about it? Asking for a friend
Short, funny way or the long, serious way?
If Minecraft skyblock and dnd had a baby. This baby also really likes both creative and stupid puns to name just about everything.
A world where every land mass was a floating island in endless skies called “Skylands”. Each one is native to tens of different species and civilizations often having an affinity for one of ten elements (dark, light, undead, life, fire, water, air, magic, earth, and tech.) Some of these people become evil villains daring to rule the world or the likes and others choose to become heroes called skylanders. And then there are portal masters, aka the player but there are also canonical characters such as your guide/glorified skylander boss, Master Eon, and the main villain of just about each game, Kaos. Portal masters have incredible magical power, even capable of time given or dimensional travel (hence there being a couple of crossovers via Mario and crash bandicoot.)
Skylanders keep the balance between good and evil, stamping out villains before they can rise up to take over. There are species and even elements often known for becoming evil or turning to ‘the darkness’ (an physical force by the way), such as Drow, trolls, cyclops, greeble, dark elements, and undead elements.. these aren’t mutually exclusive of course, anyone can be evil, the same applies to species or elements that are often associated with good, such as elves, mabu, dragons (oddly enough), life elements, and light elements
I think I’m getting wordy but you get the point the lore canonically is a little confusing especially when you take the comics and the show into account, granted the show is a little bit of a different continuity. I’m making my own world building doc on skyland’s history and other factors like species and a world map since there kind of just isn’t one that’s really concrete which I think is odd
