The Safe House written by Sandra Nicole Roldan tells a story about a young girl’s perspective and the sacrifices she and her family made to fight against the Marcos government. This story is not what the title says. It is the opposite of it. It is a great story to read for it belongs to the Philippine history and it will gave us knowledge of the challenges or barriers for Filipinos to become free in their own home country. The little girl is just as innocent as her age but as she grew up she realizes the things that happened around her. She met her known relatives in their home and heard some unfamiliar words while they are talking with her father and neither did she know that the safe house is literally not safe but dangerous. Their known relatives who are not really blood related to them and her father are revolutionist who fights for their freedom but in the end her father was arrested in front of her. As she grew up she realizes that even in your own home country and even your own house, you can’t be safe and trust anyone easily. It also gives a great impact to us as a youth and a fellow Filipino to be aware of our surroundings and especially even the people around us. We are lucky enough that we are not in their place but what is great about them is that they are brave enough to fight what is right and what they deserve to have. The only thing that can save us from this cruel world is ourselves. We can only be safe by being aware. I would really do appreciate and love to share a glimpse of this story for it will gave us knowledge and realization about Filipinos and especially our freedom to live. Is Social Media Really Useful and Beneficial?

It’s a wonderful feeling to live a life knowing and understanding the realities of the world. By means of it, we learn to give insights, opinions, cite facts, express feelings, share advocacies. Social media provides vital information necessary in the day-to-day living. However, it must be used responsibly. Equally important, RESPECT must be observed.

By respect, we will be able to know the essence of how useful and beneficial social media is. We usually use social media not just to communicate but also for businesses, educational purposes and letting your advocacies known. As an individual. It serves as Diary of Memories.

The main purpose of social media is to get in touch with the people using it and to be updated of what's going on. It also makes people informed, know the latest trend and fashion. Likewise, what is in and what is not. What is or are being talked about and who or what goes viral. Moreover, it gives other people the opportunity to learn, to earn, to find a job or employment opening, search for contacts and linkage. 

The advantages of social media is it serves a direct connection with audience, acquaintances, friends and families giving you the opportunity to know them better and be closer. For business, it is helpful as a marketing arm, of making your business known and get your products and/or services promoted. It also provides better customer service, of having feedback mechanism of how well your offerings be improved. It enhances your knowledge and help you in your education. You can share your issues and concerns with the community, to inform and give them updates, promotion or advertisement, to be aware of the surroundings that can innovate the way people think and live. It can help the government to gain access and know the issues and problems confronting our country and in helping building communities.

The disadvantages of social media are caused of the misapplication or unapplication of the advocacy “Think Before You Click”. It is the other side of the coin where we used it to negativity or wrongfully. Some people used it to commit crimes such as cyber-bullying, hacking, fraud and scams, ruin someone’s reputation, cheating and more.  The teenagers are the most affected by the addiction of the social media. They get involved very extensively in it and are eventually cut off from the society. It can also waste individual time that could have been utilized on productive tasks and activities.  The excess usage of social media can also have a negative impact on one's health. Mostly, negative use of social media is that people starts to follow what is trending even if it is dangerous and wrong.We must not use social media to impress people rather to impact people. Social media is addictive precisely because it gives one something which the real world lacks. It gives us immediacy, direction and value as an individual. Social media have two ways - the positive and negative which you can take. The decision taken is up to people to react. But I rather prefer the positive way and forget the negative because the mere intent of social media is the right usage of it, to be helpful and beneficial to the users
